Brolly @ Menara Felda, Kuala Lumpur

If I were to award a restaurant for the most interesting concept and design, I would award it to non other than Brolly.

The 6 of us took the challenge of getting in to town for our dinner gathering, and upon battling the jam, we all reached safely on the rainy evening.

I was pleased as soon as I turned into Menara Felda also known as Platinum Park, being greeted by 3 artistic mannequins. With the cooling breeze that greeted me, I was in a great mood as I stepped in to Brolly.

The lighted bus that serve as bar area stole the limelight, and what a unique idea this is. I love the transparent glass panels that surround Brolly, and I was smitten by the aromatic popcorn that was popping away. Its always nice that guests are given the popcorn as snack, foc. Lovely gesture.

The outside are of Brolly

The interior was seriously impressive. I seemed to walk through sections of display that seemed to be endless and was unique on its own.

The design revolved around various theme, which seemed like inspiration from travels, and mechanic, as I saw gramaphone records, US license plate, and tools used by mechanic being used as decorative items, which were all plastered neatly on different walls.

Interesting interior

Pool table, with car hung upside-down

The highlight of the interior ought to be this pillar of wash basins that used tyres as sink, gasoline pumps for tank, and side mirrors hung all over the pillar. Love the lighted Christmas tree that reflected onto the side mirrors.

How much I love the Christmas tree side-by-side with the washing "sink"
The room that we reserved was big, and I love the car ream used as decorative to the room's door.
Nice room for privacy
The menu was somewhat interesting, combining 9 categories of food, that ranged from Chinese, Japanese, Western, with aplenty of offerings such as live seafood, pizza, chicken wings, rice and desserts.

Their drink menu was refreshing to me, and one range of drinks included beer booze mixed with margarita, and other flavorings were also available.

Classic Beergarita. Price-RM28

The appetizer was so charming in presentation, with the fried onion that took centrestage. Those that came slightly later has totally no clue what was this. The onion was beautifully opened up, and fried till crispy. The coating was thin enough and the sweetness of onion was apparent, and dip was yummy to accompany each strip of the onion.

Onion Flower. Price-RM18
The salad was deliciously healthy and the light sauce that accompanied them, a good start to our dinner.

Rocket Mango & Grilled Watermelon and Pineapple Salad. Price-RM22 & RM15

The buffalo wings came with 9 choices of flavors and we picked the Kung Po, and the Japanese Curry version. As much as they were both very tasty, and were strong in flavour, I felt I was crunching too much of the skin, that resulted from the batter.
Each serving came with 3 pieces of big sized chicken wing, cut to 6 pieces.

The one order that I think I would repeatedly order is the Prawn . Reasonable in size, they were fried till extremely crunchy, highly fragrant, and coated well with spices.

Prawn Popcorn. Price-RM23

The pizza choice we made was Seafood Matriciana. It tasted fairly well, with thin crust, and topped with small cuts of seafood and lots of goodness from the cheesy cheese.

The one item that was enjoyed the least was the spring chicken with Chamalla sauce (used mix of herbs). Lovely presentation, with some salad, mashed potatoes, and herb sauce that accompanied it, but the taste of the herbs was overwhelming to me, and somewhat I did not like the herb taste.

Spring Chicken. Price-RM45

We also took the chance to celebrate a lovely friend birthday, and with that, we were presented with unbelievably generous amount of dessert, COMPLIMENTARY! Wow!
There were 6 of us, and 6 jars of dessert were brought to us.
Love the simple presentation that used mason jar, with generous portion of each. What we tasted included Creme Brulee - extremely creamy and milky, Honey Yoghurt - sourish and totally appetizing, Chunky Peanut Butter Granola - healthy and crunchy, and Rocky Road - chewy and yummy.
Everyone has their own favorite, and I must, all tasted equally delectable.

Dessert In Mason Jar. Usual Price-RM16 each
Verdict : It's a great place for booze, finger food, plenty of food varieties. Service was exceptional. Price is fair, however, there are some seafood that is priced on a high side.

Restoran Bai Wei Xuan @ Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam

My family and I visited this Sichuan restaurant located at Kota Kemuning several times, of-late. We like the homey non pretencious set up of this restaurant.

The Chinesey deco, used of red, paper lantern and chinese painting
During our visits, we were all satisfied with quality of all dishes that we ordered. Well, majority.

The sauteed diced chicken with chile pepper is really to die-for. Despite the fact that this tasted extremely spicy and pungent, the fragrant that derived from the spices were simply aromatic. The marination sipped in to each part of the bite sized chicken and the crunchiness of the diced chicken was absolutely pleasing to our palate.

I digged through the dried chile to look for left over bones or mini size of the diced chicken, so that I can keep it in my mouth and let it be chewed slowly.

Some dishes will immediately turn your stomach to aching, as the spiciness may look unbearable. The fresh fish fillets soaked in this hot oily oil was extremely delicious, and has such strong flavor from the spices and pepper used.

We love the fresh fillet of fish that was cooked with the picked vegetables. Fish were sliced thick enough for us to savor the nice chunk of them, and this dish certainly opened up our appetite. The sourness from the picked vegetables were so yummy. There were also some vermicelli within this bowl.

It was our first time to see potatoes served this way. Shredded so thinly, and cooked with vinegar. Love the crunchiness of the potatoes, and tasted simply great.

Sour & Spicy Shredded Potatoes. Price-RM12

The Sweet & Sour Pork was another absolute favorite of all. The pork was fried so well, whereby tenderness of the pork could still be felt, while it also came with slight crunchiness. The sauce that accompanied was excellent, a well balanced of sweet towards sour.

The mushroom can be opted for non spicy. We love the generous portion of mushrooms, with extremely good balance of mushroom of all sorts, mixed with some vege. Tasted totally delicious, and what a good value for what we gotten in return.

The steamed egg was soft, and topped with lots of gravy made of good portion of minced pork. Its so tasty, and went so well with rice.

The beancurd was soft, which came with a slight crispy layer. The sauce was yummy which was favorite of the kids.

This was the only one dish that we did not favor. The squids were too chewy that it felt slightly plasticy, and it has a weird peppery taste.

Sizzled Squid Tentacles. Price-RM22
Verdict : So far only 1 dish that we felt did not delivered, while all others did 100%. A place that we will return over and over again.

Teochew Seafood Noodle House @ Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya

As I was walking along this row of shoplot outside Atria, I spotted this shop selling fishball that I used to frequent. It doesn't have a store front signage (its located next to Seni Jaya) but you could see a smaller sign of its name "Kedai Makan Teo Chew" as you are heading in to the shop.

The stall right in front of the shop

I heart fishballs. I can eat fishballs every meal. I can't wait to walk down the memory lane to taste what I used to savor.

Customers have the option to take their standard noodle that comes with fishballs, and fishcake. In addition, there are fresh seafood, and yong tau foo to choose as add-on.

The soup has a mild sweetness taste, and the quality was certainly satisfactory. Most of all, it tasted the very same as before. Their fishballs were extremely bouncy and extremely pleasurable to my palate. Each bowl of noodle soup came with 5 fishballs and 4 slices of fish cake. For the price of RM7, I think this is a fairly priced bowl of noodle. The garnishing that included fried spring onion and some parsley, does makes the noodle soup to be so aromatic.

The dried noodle were equally satisfactory.

The fish cake tasted fair enough, with extremely crispy layer of its outer layer. It tasted good, however, just a tad hard. I have tried much more bouncier fish cakes.

They have been opened for more than 20 years. This surely deserved a WOW!

Anytime I'm around this area, craving for something light, I will definitely head here, for a satisfactory bowl of noodles. Its nice to know that I can have it for either breakfast, lunch or early dinner.

Cake Jalan Tiung @ Menara Naza TTDI, Section 13, Shah Alam

By chance, I became a follower of Cake Jalantiung on Instagram, and I more often than not, realized that I actually salivate when I looked at how tempting the cake that this cafe produces. I was also attracted to how passionate the team behind this cafe have towards what they are doing.

Recently, I saw the news that they opened their second outlet, also within Shah Alam, and I
after numerous failed attempt to be here, I finally did, today. Yay! Have a small sense of achievement, somewhat. Haha.

Located at the corner lot below Menara Naza, I had some difficulty finding the right lift to get to the Ground Floor of this building. Apparently they have the office block lift that links to the cafe, and the one I went to was the Residences section of the building.

I can't wait to check out the cakes that await us on this Friday afternoon.

The simple cosy corner occupied by Cake Jalan Tiung
Overall, I find that they have limited choices of drink, however, I feel that it is fine, as the focus of their existence is their yummylicious cakes.

Simple offering of drinks
I love their use of simple blend of pastel colors, and the panels that matches hanging from the ceiling, and side panel of their counter.

A colorful area that is their cashier and cake display area
We ordered their Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake, and their Chocolate Tart. Both deserved thumbs up.

Lovely use of plates
Its highly tempting when I looked at this piece of cake. The chocolate cake, was insanely delectable. It has just the right level of texture which has the right balance of density, and extremely moist. It has a light coating of buttercream, and drizzled with lots of salted caramel on top of the cake. The salted caramel truly matches perfectly with the chocolate cake. The blend of saltiness, caramely taste, ooohh la la.... superb taste...

It has been a long long time that I haven't tasted something this lip-smacking.

Salted Caramel & Choc. Price-RM13

Upon feeling satisfied over the cakes, and the chocolate tart which was extremely chocolatey, we ordered their chocolate chips cookies.

The cookies were heated up slightly, and served with small glass of milk, which we are to dip into with the cookies.
Love the slightly soft cookies, and yet slightly crunchy but what kills it was the thick chocolate used within the cookies. It has the melted chocolate that tasted extremely tantalizing.

Cake Jalan Tiung also supply their cakes to quite a number of cafes around town, and the type of cake differs from time to time. Do check out their Instagram to find out more info.

Their space is rather limited, but that definitely doesn't deter their fans from flocking to this cake to fulfill their craving for cakes.

Fushou Lou Nyonya Curry Mee @ USJ 2, Subang Jaya

It's nice when you have different parts of the area, so that she or he can recommend you to their favorite food around their neighborhood.

Rosalind was kind enough to bring me to this coffee shop at SS2, Subang Jaya once. And further to this, I am officially hooked to this style of curry mee.

The nyonya version of this curry mee sold here tasted like a mix of tom yam and curry. It has the slight tanginess taste and sourish that how usually tom yam would have, and a light taste of curry. This combined, the broth is of a perfect taste.  Not overly creamy that usually comes from coconut milk found in curry and not overly spicy.

The other reason I love this is they have the lai fun noodle, that tasted so delicious when taken with this nyonya curry broth. Yumms!

I am so addicted to this that when I do pass by Subang empty stomach, I would try to make it a point to come here for my fix.

Curry Mee. Price-RM6
I always come here for their standard version that comes with taufu pok, 2 pieces of chicken, long bean, bean sprout, sambal paste and mint leaves. I love this version so much that I have not attempted to have their dried noodle, or noodle with pork or seafood which are also available.
Look out for this stall
If one is not too familiar with Subang area, just pass by Summit USJ on your left, and you will be able to see Shell at the opposite direction. This coffee shop is located at the corner lot facing Shell.
