Fusion Haven Cafe & Restaurant @ Sri Petaling, KL

I was recently in touch with my ex-colleague, Danny Loke, in which I found out that he has been running this restaurant in Sri Petaling for the last 10 years. Upon checking his FB page, I found very positive comments made on its food, and I'm glad I made my way there.

Appetizing product shots to tempt you
Nice comfy seating
From the outside

Comfy and spacious
I was extremely impressed with the food presentation at Fusion Haven. Honestly, I don't get to feast my eyes with such lovely presentation even at some fine dining outlets.

We tried the mango salad. Despite having used mango quality that isn't the best, perhaps due to seasonality of this fruit, the overall combination deserves a thumbs up.  The salad is served in a crispy basket.

Fusion Mango Salad. Price-RM13.90
Firstly, crack up the 'basket' and mix the salad together. Within this, we find fresh lettuce, apple, mango, raisins and dried fruits..Place them onto the crackers, and eat them together. The combination of crunchiness, and the slightly wet salad, simply right.

Inside look of the mango salad
The Fusion Dory Tower - I must say, I was awed with this "tower"..  At the bottom, is the onigiri rice fried, topped withe pan fried dory, followed by turkey breast ham, and another layer of pan fried dory. The octopus bonito flakes made the whole thing looked classier, and a long twist stick.

The octopus bonito flakes lends a tastier taste to the soft dory fish, with a slight crisp surrounding the fish. Yummy to the max.

Fusion Dory Tower. Price-RM23.90
The pepperocino spaghetti was absolutely tasty, fried using lots of garlic, and olive oil. The owner, Danny, requested a replacement of shisamo fish, to topped the pasta, instead of their regular pan grilled chicken. You may want to check on the availability of this at point of ordering.
Pepperocino Spaghetti with Shisamo. Price-RM18.90
This ought to be their best seller dessert. From the look, one would know that the chocolate cake is really moist.

Warm Hearted Chocolate Cake with Ice-Cream. Price-RM7.90
Cut it apart, and you will find chocolate oozing out from this small sized chocolate cake. I was pretty impressed. Taste wise, oo-la-la... it best described my taste bud.

Chocolate goodness oozing out.
And a must must order, is their ice house coffee, which I forgot to take a picture of.
Taste very good, and only at the price of RM4.80 per glass.

Overall, I had a very good meal at Fusion Haven Cafe, and I'm not saying this just because I know the owner. And a point to note is that, with the standard of food served, the price is way too reasonable. Perhaps one thing to thank is that the high competitive F&B environment in this area. Whatever it is, it will be to the advantage of the customers. Yay!

Being located at a highly busy street (and of course, no business owner would like to run their business at area with ample parking, which would mean that, its probably a dead area), do look out for police station on the right, followed by TM Point. Fusion Haven is just few doors away.

Kumar's @ Oasis Square, Ara Damansara, PJ

One will be spoilt for choices when they enter Oasis Square. Just like the very serene feeling, contributed by its water features at the centre, surrounded by various F&B outlets.

Spotted Kumar's from the opposite, and our taste bud was somehow inclined to Indian food that night. We did not realized how packed the restaurant was, from the outside. I liked the entire deco of Kumar's, as it has quite modern touch, and gives me the feeling that I stepped in an Indian restaurant in overseas.

Kumar's serve South Indian restaurant that is famed for its curry fish head, and they boast a long history of experience, where they first started its business at Brickfields in 1969.

Packed restaurant

We needed a light meal, so we ordered just 1 meat, 1 vegetable and garlic naan to go with it.

Garlic Naan. Price - RM4.90

We simply love the stewed spinach cooked with dhall.. The thickness of the dhall that blends in well with the softness from the cooked spinach compliments our naan so well.

Spinach with Dhall. Price-RM12.90

The spices used for the red snapper fish was a true thumbs up. Its pretty spicy, however, its something that I want to bear with as the fragrant of the spices is something I couldn't resist.

Red Snapper with Samba. Price-RM15.90

We ordered the natural sweet lassi. As much as its called sweet lassi, the sweetness is just nice.

Overall a thumbs up experience. I would definitely return here with a bigger group so that I can try more of its other dishes.

Absolute Viet @ Setia Walk, Puchong

How could it be possible that it was only my first time to Setia Walk last week... As much as I've heard so much about this place, it was a little out of place for me. However, I was glad that our meet up took place there last week. How serene and what a relaxing place this F&B are surrounded with.

Walking around, our eyes were busy checking out the F&B outlets... and having to decide what to eat, could be quite a task.

We walked passed Absolute Viet during dinner time, and it was packed with customers.
Inviting front
Upon all of us arriving, checked with all our appetite and we shortlisted to Korean, or Vietnam, and 3 of us opted to give this Vietnam food a shot. We like that this place is simple yet inviting enough.

The boss came to asked if we require any recommendation. And since we opted food for sharing, he suggested this Assorted Dishes (small size) that comes with pork, chicken, fish, popiah, vermicelli, shredded carrot, cucumber, bean sprout and basil leaves. It's either basil leave or mint leave that will usually give vietnam roll a boost to the taste.  The set comes with 5 pieces of rice paper, and additional rice paper comes at RM0.50 per piece.

When the Assorted Dishes was served, I was really impressed by the generous portion that comes with it. Real value for money and everything really tasted so good.

The boss was kind enough to offer to demonstrate to us 1 round on how to roll the rice paper vietnam roll.

Step 1. Mix the sauce that comes with peanut
Step 2. Dip the rice paper all around. Just dip, and its crucial to not be too wet. It was a mistake that I've done at home all this while, that we wet the rice paper totally, and this will eventually result in the rice paper being too soggy by the time the ingredients are placed onto the rice paper.
Step 3. Apply the sauce on top of the rice paper.
Step 4. Take a little of each ingredients, except for popiah. Little enough of each so that it doesn't "burst" the rice paper.
Step 5. Roll and wrap up the rice paper roll.
Assorted Dishes. Price-RM24.90
Yummy yummy Vietnam roll
The combination of all the ingredients.. a total thumbs up.

And the other dish recommended by the owner was the Tomato Noodle Soup. My first feedback, is it like 'tomato sauce' kind  of taste? He assured that it doesn't really has the tomato taste... in fact its a little sourish, and taste a little of tom yam..

One of the best tasting noodle.. Am I exaggerating? Ain't so..  The soup base tasted extremely good, and it carries a tinge of asam laksa taste (not spicy though, and a little sourish). Totally appetizing. It comes with chicken, and egg, and I just loved the noodle that is the thick vietnam noodle. As explained by the owner, in Vietnam, there isn't mee available, everything is made using rice, like rice noodle, vermicelli type, rice roll. All rice based.

Tomato Noodle Soup. Price-RM9.90
Simple seating

I love their logo - "Absolute Viet"

All 3 of us took the lemongrass tea. Nice.

The portion of the 2 food items ordered were sufficient for the 3 of us. Next, I hope to come with a bigger group, so that I can order more items to try. I can't wait to be back.

Garage 51 @ Bandar Sunway

Having read through a few articles online and blog about Garage 51, it all did managed to raise my curiosity of this place. What attracted me most, wow, a cafe with a garage 'feel' concept. Its such a change from the F&B scene in the past that its opened at the more commercial areas, however, we will now find F&B outlets opened at some of the most unexpected locations.

I really liked the interior of Garage 51, and its very high ceiling.

You won't missed Garage 51 as you pass it

Check out the chair design
Packed lunch crowd
Garage 51 offers very limited menu, with only few selection available for lunch, and separately few others for dinner. Point to note is that their kitchen is closed between 4-6pm. I suppose with the amount of crowd, the selection currently meets the demand by the majority.

Looking at the menu, the Awesome Garage Breakfast attracts my eye. It says diced mushroom, homemade hash potatoes, smoked salmon with free range poached eggs. Well, somehow I wasn't expecting all this items being stacked on top of one another. And I find that the portion is a little too small, and this dish seems to count on the natural taste from its origin, and to conclude, it doesn't taste as good as it looked...
Awesome Garage Breakfast. Price-RM19
The bagel that Joanne is way too hard to be chewed. We know that bagel has a harder texture, however, we really don't find this pleasing to the palatte. She in fact only took the salmon and avacodo, and just couldn't finish off the whole thing.. and well, I don't blame her...

Smoked salmon on bagel with salsa. Price-RM18

Coffee wise, I find that it lacks the richness of coffee, and it surely does feels diluted.

Latte. Price-RM8.90
I do hope that it is only my very personal experience that will not garner this place a second visit. Thank god that taste is a very personal thing which I'm certain others may have a total opposite opinion from me.

In House @ Kota Kemuning

I was shared of this eatery by my photographer friend whom did product shot for In-House. In summary, he concluded that this place is run by a very passionate lady that serves big portion healthy food at highly reasonable price. But I would never have guessed where it is located.

True enough - In-House is located within industrial area in Kota Kemuning, and my WAZE came in handy in helping me get to this location.

Once you reach this location, you will find that the restaurant is heavily surrounded by plants and trees.. How soothing. It almost immediately tuned my mind to a relaxing mode.

Surrounded by lots of bamboo tree

Headed towards entrance of In House
Came twice, and during lunch, they are fully packed. Looks like this is a regular spot for those working nearby.

Neat and clean environment

Cosy corner

Ordered their pot drink filled with mixture of fruits. A good way for sharing.

Yummy pot of tea
We ordered the cantonese seafood noodle. Wow, really lots of vege and ingredients, that we almost can't finish them.

Cantonese Seafood Noodle. Price-RM13.90

In-House is famous for its Sauna Noodles, where the noodles is served in a hot stone wok to preseve the heat. In addition, the sweetness and nutritional values of the ingredients are maintained, and food is kept warm till the last mouthful.

Clear broth and can taste the natural sweetness from the ingredients used.
Sauna Noodles. Price - RM12.90 that comes with fish. Other options - Vegetarian RM9.90, Chicken-RM12.90
The rice is favorite of my nieces... cos of the cheese used..
Baked Herbal Chicken Rice. Price-RM12.90
Overall, taste of the food is not too heavy...mild taste that allows you to enjoy the original taste of the ingredients. I like the fact that hey do not use MSG in their food.

There are also the outside seating area. However, just standing there for a little while, a few of us were bitten by mosquitoes. So don't think it's quite a good choice.

Some water feature and lots of greens, outside In-House
