Restoran Yin Her @ Sungai Buloh

With my aunty and uncle from Perth for a short trip, it gave more reason for me to meet up with my other relatives. Each time when meet up, the most popular question heard, will be 'where shall we eat this for lunch/dinner?'... Last Tue, Aunty from PJ suggested to have dinner at Sungai Buloh. This is 1 area that I am least familiar with.
When we reached the restaurant, we headed to the non air-cond area, facing the pond . Though without air-cond, it was a chilly night, as it was just after rain, and with slight wind breeze, what a nice weather...
After taking a look around, one thing prominent was the lush greenery - lots of plant...

Surrounding of the restaurant

Just next to the restaurant, there is a lake for fishing, with charge of RM20 per 3 hours.

There were a few man, patiently waiting for their rod to get hooked..

Our plates of food were served relatively fast, and I was told that this restaurant is really packed on weekends. No luck for crab the other night, as they have not been getting their regular stock.

As we looked at the plates of food placed on the table, we knew we are to savor good tasting food - Bon Appetite..

This was the braised yee mee and hokkien mee hoon noodle we had. The hokkien mee hoon was a little too wet. However, it doesn't lack the taste a good plate of noodle should have. The yee mee, just the right taste I'd like in a plate of noodle. Braised till just soft enough, and not soggy. Overall, these 2 plates has generous amount of ingredients - like vege, squid and pork.

Braised Yee Mee. Price-RM12

Hokkien Mee. Price-RM10

The winner has to be this plate of fried tanghoon. This was cooked to close perfection, not too dry, tasty overall, with lots of beansprout, prawn, cuttlefish, pork and not forgetting the dried prawn that was found in every other mouth of tanghoon I had.

Fried Tanghoon. Price-RM10

The salted mantis shrimp has this really wonderful aroma - the crunchy bites of this will set you wanting for more. Uncle said, this is best taken with beer. Makes a wonderful snack food too.

Mantis Prawn. Price-RM20

The steam lala was one of the favorite for all of us... This thin shelled lala, gave a nice chewy texture, and the soup which has a strong taste of chinese wine, and was cooked using wolfberries, ginger, and just enough chilli padi - its important that chilli padi doesn't overkill the whole taste. Nice!!

Lala. Price-RM25

We were then served complimentary dessert, a bowl each - the barley fu chok, with sago. Lovely way to end our dessert. Was told by cousin, that if we were to order rice and dishes, the owner will serve complimentary soup. I supposed every customer welcomes free stuff, yea?

Complimentary bowl of dessert

I had a wonderful dinner, catching up with my aunties and uncles. The dinner was 'spiced' up by my entertaining 'Aunty Mei Kei'.. :)

Another photo together, this time, just the ladies.. :)

Restoran Fei Fei Crab @ Kepong

Was introduced to Go Enjoy magazine , a restaurant directory, and with it being a fairly new publication, it is produced with quality, and superb food shot. After hearing from Yap, who has been to 1 of the restaurant recommended by Go Enjoy, I too, gathered some of my makan kakis to try it out.

We headed to Fei Fei 2 weekends ago. Yap, my brother who has been there, highlighted that 1 of the main attraction here is that Fei Fei sells 1 serving of crab at RM18+ (separately, they also have crabs sold at per kg charge).

Having been warned of the crowd especially during the weekend, we were not surprised when we saw the crowd that was seated inside the restaurant, and outside, which also stretched to the next shoplot. Fei Fei will be recommended for those who can afford the waiting time, for we waited around 45mins for our food to be served. Nevertheless, no complaints from us, as in return, we tasted good, yet affordable food.

Fei Fei was totally packed

We ordered the HK kailan, stir fried with garlic. The kailan was absolutely fresh, and every bite was real crunchy.

Stir fried Hong Kong Kailan. Price-RM10

The other specialty that we ordered was the Italy style fried mantis shrimp, which also came together with potatoes. It has a rather unique sauce, which tasted like a concoction of mayonnaise, lemon and some honey. The mantis shrimp was fried till real crunchy, and yet still can taste the flesh (some fried it till too crunchy that it made the flesh sorta 'disappear')... The sauce that coated the mantis shrimp was truly aromatic. A rather new way of tasting mantis shrimp.

Italy Style Mantis Shrimp. Price -RM15

As crabs only cost RM18 per order, we ordered 3 different types - sweet sour, butter with corn and honey lemon crab.

We were pleasantly surprised when we were served the crabs, as the portion is considered big, for the price we paid. So 'dai!!!!!' @ value for money.

There were 3 medium-sized fresh crabs in each serving.

Of the 3, sweet and sour was the least favored. Though it carried the sweet and sour taste, the gravy was a little watery, and wasn't a particular taste that made me want more.

Sweet & Sour Crab. Price-RM18

However, we were glad that the other 2 order tasted real good. The sweet corn, butter crab - nice. The buttery sauce was with the right thickness and creamy buttery taste. The curry leaves added fragrance to this dish and I also liked the sweetness that came from the corn used.

Butter Crab with Corn. Price-RM21

The honey lemon crab scored full marks!! Just love this plate of bbq crabs. Once I licked on the shell, the aroma bbq smell and the sweetness from the honey that sticks on to the shell, really had my taste bud dancing with excitement. In addition, there was also accompanying sauce - special concoction of use, using lemon and garlic. Thick crab flesh dipped onto the sauce- yummmy!!! A truly flavorful taste!!

Honey Lemon Crab. Price-RM21

There were total of 9 crabs, and we managed to the end.

While ordering, I did wished I was there with perhaps a dozen friends, so that I could order more of its other dishes to try, as there were many others that caught my eyes...!!

Alycia and Lung, looking really happy. Who wouldn't after a satisfactory meal?

Kedai Makanan Seremban @ Seremban

Just last Saturday alone, my car had traveled about 240km +/-, heading from Klang to KL to Seremban to Ampang and back to Klang. Phew!

Craving that Vincent had, had us travel all the way to Seremban for the BBQ crab.

Not being able to recognize which was the right restaurant, we ended at the restaurant with a big crab sign, and upon seated, was told they ran out of crabs.. What a disappointment, we thought at first. We were all delighted when we spotted the right restaurant further down the road, filled with customers, with up to 3 tour buses outside.

2 different sign-board, from the same restaurant

We were all set to just have crab the other night, however ordered 1 plate of vermicelli as something else to filled up our stomach... And this was one of the best tasting vermicelli I've tried. Fried simply with egg, lettuce, onion, beansprout, red chilli and clams, this plate of noodles really has the right taste of 'wok hei' which is the flavour, taste and "essence" imparted by the hot work during process of stir frying.

Vermicelli with clams. Price-RM12

It was this bowl of concoction that kept us 'occupied' while waiting for the food to be served. Not forgetting to mention, despite the big crowd, the vermicelli was served 10mins after our order, and next 5 mins was our butter crab, and the 'hero' dish, BBQ crab, in the following 5 mins. Impressive..

And back to this concoction, it tasted so good, slight sourish taste, not too spicy, combined parsley, garlic and chilli, and has this little tinge of lime taste. We dipped it with the crackers served before dinner. This also taste good with the crab.

Tasty concoction

Ready, get set, go...... for the crabs.

Me, Vincent and Audrey

The crabs whether small or big size cost RM48 per kg, and min order is 2 crabs, per order. This first was that was served was the butter crab. The crab was really fresh, but felt that it doesn't carry enough 'buttery' taste.

Butter Crab. Price-RM48 per kg

This 2 nicely positioned BBQ crab was absolutely pleasing to taste. Licked the sauce and boy, it has such fragrant taste - slightly burnt taste, with slight saltiness of the sauce, I'm almost out of words to described how good the crab was. Coupled with the thick flesh from this extremely fresh crab, this trip all the way to Seremban was absolutely worth it.

With the 4 crabs, and a plate of vermicelli for dinner, we had to struggle a little to finish off everything. But to the end, we managed well.

Who ate the most crab?? Hehe..

Port Village @ Tg.Harapan, Klang

Suan and her family made a trip to Klang last weekend. Our interrupted bowling session (due to problem with the pins) had us ended the session late. And our legs were all wobbly by the time we got to the lunch place.

Spotted a monitor lizard, having its walk during the hot afternoon

And sorry la, to get to this Port Village, need to still walk through this path to get there. Despite our wobbly legs, we had to push ourselves to walk few steps faster...

Wooden path to get to the restaurant

As soon as David spotted 'food', he immediately grabbed it. Crackers also can do la... But, too bad, after trying the crackers, felt it doesn't taste too good, as after frying, it still has the sides that were still 'hard'.

David - "My stomach is growling badly. No kidding!"

It was late by the time we got there, so there were lesser crowd. By the time we got there, the crabs were sold out.

The restaurant

A view from the restaurant

We ordered the fried mee hoon with lala. It was fragrant enough, and combined with the mini size lala, we just like the overall taste of this.

Fried meehoon with lala. Price-RM15

Then came the mantis shrimp. We initially wanted to order salted mantis shrimp that came with the shell, however it was sold out. Thus ordered this 'kam-heong' style. Though it was fragrant, the mantis shrimp was coated with quite a fair bit of batter, which made it crispy - HOWEVER, the overall texture was really hard and a little too chewy, and . Could hardly taste the mantis shrimp.

Mantis Shrimp Kung Po Style. Price-RM18

Ordered their specialty - taufoo. This was the favorite amongst us. Fried till golden brown, this combining taufoo and minced seafood + minced carrot, resulted in really good tasting taufoo. The texture was just nice - a little like fish cake.

Fried taufoo. Price-Rm12

As for the fried egg with oyster, thought the batter was a little too thick. And somehow, I didn't liked this.

Fried Egg with Oyster. Price-RM20

The 'hainan' noodle was the last to be served. It tasted a little sourish - using thick mee, fried with cucumber, onion, egg, chicken meat, and fish cake. This would have tasted much better, if it wasn't for this plate of noodle has gotten cold, by the time we ate it.

Hainan Noodle. Price-RM10

We overall had a satisfying lunch. As I drive to work from Klang to D'sara Heights, including some days during weekend to meet up with friends, so its nice that for a change, friends came over to Klang. ^-^

Hing Ket Grill House @ Kampung Jawa, Klang

Been to Hing Ket many years ago, and being a Klangnite, I owe this restaurant another visit. Organized for a dinner with Aloy, Sam, Sally & Janice few Saturdays ago.

When I arrived, I am just to wait to for the food to arrive. And it was a wise decision to be there by 6.30pm, otherwise, parking will surely be a problem at Hing Ket.

The brussel sprout tasted normal, so was the cantonese fried noodle. The highlight apart from the BBQ lamb was the fried 'tung hoon'. It was really so fragrant, not too wet, not too dry, and combined with white cabbage, pork, prawn and dried prawn, this was simply delicious.

From top left (clockwise) : Brussel Sprout. Price-RM10, Cantonese Fried Kuey teow and Fried Tang Hoon.Price-RM16

I ain't too much a lamb eater, but I did tried this. The meat was tender and well marinated, and most important of all, does not have the too strong smell of lamb. All of them loved this.

BBQ Lamb-4 pcs. Price-RM34

I love mantis shrimp, but the flour coating to this may be a little thick, or was it the mantis shrimp that is too lean, that I don't taste enough of it.

Mantis Shrimp. Price-RM12

The BBQ crab was really fresh that we could taste the sweetness of it.

BBQ Crab. Price-RM48. Naughty us to placed 1 crab on top of the other. Hehe.

We later ordered the yam noodle, as it sounded interesting. It tasted a little like 'pak kor', and has mild taste of yam.

Man at the kitchen, busy 'barbequ-ing'

After dinner, we adjourned to Aloy and Sam's home for coffee and chocolate fondue.

Coffee bought back from Paris. Surely it tasted good.

Since each cup of coffee has to be prepared one by one, we had much time to hang around, to pose around taking pictures. When all cups of coffee were ready, we can't wait to taste the coffee. We took a bite of marshmallow/strawberry dipped in chocolate, and the next, a sip of coffee. Pure enjoyment.. And it was certainly a great way to end the night.

Ber-posing posing- with coffee, strawberry, cake and the chocolate fondue. Sally baked us a cake too.

Aloy, at the background, wouldn't want to miss a chance to be in the photo. Hehe..
