The Shepherdoo @ Centro, Klang

After trying out Shepherdoo with Remus few months ago (earlier blog), brought Sis, Qi and Yao for lunch here. I just can't wait to try out what else is good here.
Seated inside

While waiting for the 2 good-looking chef to prepare our order, got the 2 angels - Qi and Yao to pose for the camera.
Qi, promoting The Shepherdoo. Doesn't she look adorable?

After posing inside the restaurant, we then adjourned outside for more shots. Qi and Yao are such grown up girls, and they are so good in posing nowadays (with some cheeky shots).

After the few shots, our meal were ready to be served. The spaghetti by the name of 'Songs of The Sea' has such a supreme flavour. Seafood cooked with chef made flavored red sauce has a real pleasing taste, with the thickness of tomato juice, slight sourish, and truly fragrant. It also has generous portion of seafood - mussels, prawns, squid... We just loved this.

Spaghetti - 'Songs of The Sea'. Price-RM23.90

The other order we had that got we 'ooh and ah' from the very first bite was the Pizza de Hawai. Not too big a size, which will made one appreciate every bite of these slices of pizza. It combined ingredients which included turkey ham, caramelized onions, pineapple slices, red sauce, mozzarella cheese and oregano. Love the cheesiness of the pizza, and the very thin slice of the base - crispy!!!

Pizza de Hawai. Price-RM14.80

Since we still had some space in our stomach for more food, can't resist but to order additional food - chose the Tapas Sharing Platter. It combined portions of chicken quesadillas, fried squid, fried fish and chicken wings.Maybe it was us that was feeling full later on, but we preferred the first 2 orders earlier.
This Tapas Sharing Platter is a good choice for one to have a taste of, a little of everything, from its appetizer list of menu (apart from this 4 items, they have more appetizer list in their menu).

Tapas Sharing Platter. Price-RM28.90

Glad to have discovered this restaurant. We don't need to travel out of Klang for good Western food anymore. Yippee!

This restaurant is run by a really young team, and again to mention, the chefs are young and good looking. They look even more charming as they have this real passionate look while preparing the food ^-^

Fern Nyonya @ Tanah Rata, Camerons

With the cooling night weather, ideally we would like some hot soupy stuff to fill up our stomach. Going around looking for dinner place isn't too difficult in Camerons, especially if one is looking for steamboat. Reminds me of Klang and Kepong ^-^... Since the claimed famous steamboat restaurant near Brinchang was totally packed, we drove to Tanah Rata, for other options.

Decided to try Fern Nyonya restaurant - that serves steamboat, chinese, western, and nyonya food. Any food you want, seems to be available here.

The food here are halal, however, it doesn't carry Halal logo, due to restriction of not being able to sell alcohol.

The 2-floors restaurant from the outside

We had the choice of chicken soup base at RM13 per head, tom yam soup base at RM14 per head, and combination of both at RM15 per head.

With a list of 14 items within the set per head, the portion was in fact a lot. It combines sliced chicken, fish, prawn, cuttlefish, chikuwa, fishball, beancurd, beancurd strips, eggs, mee, vermicelli, fresh mushroom and up to 4 kinds of vege. How could we finish all this man!

Everything was just so fresh

Meat on top of vege

I must say that both the soup broth tasted really good, and good thing is, we didn't t feel thirsty after drinking the soup. Yummy.

Combining freshness of the ingredients, the tasty soup broth, nice weather, and nice companion the other night, I had a one good dinner. ^-^

Doesn't this pot of steamboat mouthwatering??

I would definitely return to have dinner here again, during my next visit to Camerons.

Buah Todi @ Camerons

The loads of sea coconut at this stall caught our eyes when we drove pass, from Kea Farm towards Brinchang. Thus, decided to stop our car on the way back, to check it out.

Stalls along the road

The boss had quite a number of customers, some whom were as curious as us. Asking what is that... Upon clarifying with the boss, this is actually called Buah Todi, and the supply came from Ipoh.

First thing we asked 'how much', and the price actually range from RM5-RM18, depending on size.

The Buah Todi in different sizes

Upon choosing our Buah Todi, the boss slowly peeled open the Buah Todi. He was in fact real bubbly, and reminded us of Chef Ismail.

"Huh, potong macam ini.. (cut like this)"

The Buah Todi has 3 parts to it. Scoop over the flesh, and there will be some juice inside, which tasted very mild. Its texture is like sea coconut. Refreshing to drink this in the cool weather.

Its benefits include it having cooling effect, and works best for those having sore throat.

Damansara Village Steamboat @ Damansara

Kent recommended me this place upon having dinner here, saying it serve good food, and they ordered all the expensive stuff, but paid a rather reasonable price for it.

An MSN chat with YK, led me and some of my ex-college mate to dinner at Damansara Village. Before that, checked out their
blog , and wow, they really have lots of varieties food served here. Seems like Patrick Teoh is the man behind this restaurant.

It was raining the other night- what an appropriate night for steamboat.

Airy restaurant

We ordered the steamboat set, priced at RM119, and opted for the herbal soup as the base, at a charge of RM12. The set came with lots of fishball, clams, mussels, abalone slice, fresh tiger prawns, crabs and slices of fresh fish. I would say the set is reasonably priced, in return to what came in the set. Overall, the herbal soup really tasted pure, with thick herbal aroma.

Part of steamboat set, and additional order of beef slice, fried wantan, wrapped chicken, and fish cake

The seafood below was extremely fresh - especially the prawn. We didn't know it was actually still alive when served on plate, and while waiting for the pot of steamboat to boil, few prawns 'jumped' out from the plate, and had us the girls screaming - freshness proven.

Extremely fresh seafood

The soup broth was sweet, and after few rounds of adding in the ingredients, the soup got even sweeter.

Overall, we were satisfied with the steamboat - and steamboat is only 1 of the specialty served here, and there are a lot of other dishes available for ordering. The side order - fish cake was only so so, as the fishcake skin became soggy when served.

The 5 of us - ex PJ Stamford students - and Chris, being the last to arrive the other night, after attending to problematic TM matters, generously picked up the bill. Arigato Chris..

Its so good to catch up, after so long... and somehow, felt we still look the same.. Well, A-L-M-O-S-T'..hehe.

Haagen-Dazs @ Solaris, Mont Kiara

A day after I snapped this shot, I was making my friends guess what this is.. Naturally, they all replied - salmon sushi la...They gave me a unbelievable look when I revealed that this is actually Haagen-Dazs latest creation - ice-cream shaped in sushi form. This latest creation by Haagen-Dazs wins, bar none, when come to their innovation in creation something as special as this.

This was part of the sushi on Sushi Platter served by Haagan Dazs

I was privileged to be invited by Pat-Lin Communications, PR company for Haagen-Dazs, to be amongst the group to try this, a day after its launch.

Regina doing the brief introduction - "boys & girls, may I have your attention please. thanks for being here this evening...."

Everything about Haagen-Dazs reflects their tagline of 'Journey of Indulgence' and it even began from its new menu - such good quality, and just wish can bring it ie. the menu home.

Excellent quality menu - looks really like a coffee table book

As the appetizer, we were served the mini version of the 'Sweet Romance' which was ice-cream with strawberries, white chocolate marble, white chocolate shaving and whipped cream. For white chocolate lovers, one will definitely be pleased with this - strong white chocolate taste, and shaved so smoothly that it gives a melting effect in the mouth. The 'Sweet Romance' creation at its normal size of 1kg, is priced at RM138, and one can have the cake specially made based on ice-cream flavor of one's choice.

Mini version of the 'Sweet Romance'

And here comes the highlight of the evening - the Sushi Platter, made up of 4 pieces of pretty and delectable ice-cream sushi. When the platter was served, oh boy, were we blown away.... it looked so real. This has been created for the ice-cream lovers that appreciates their me time, while indulging the ultimate in ice-cream.

We can't help but to admire the 4 well crafted sushi in this Sushi Platter before tasting it. Overall, great presentation and truly pleasing to the eyes, giving ice-cream lovers another meaning and experience in eating ice-cream.

Not only the sushi (or rather ice-cream) looked so real, it even has a small scoop of green tea ice-cream representing 'wasabi' which is a must-have as part of any sushi platter. Brilliant or what.. ^-^

Sushi Platter. Price-RM35

In this Sushi Platter, 2 of the sushi use vanilla ice-cream as the base, and 2 use macadamia nut ice-cream. This is because the solidity of this 2 flavours that made them most suitable to be used as the base. Well, can't imagine how many rounds of experiment would have taken place before finally coming out with this.

Though all 4 - Mango & Passion Fruit Sushi, Strawberry Gunkan, Kiwi Gunkan an Mango Sorbet Sushi tasted good, I especially loved the Mango Sorbet Sushi. Ought to be the due to the extra effort required to intersperse between the Mango Sorbet and vanilla ice-cream that made the salmon looking ice-cream possible.

To emulate the sushi look, chocolate was used to wrap around the sushi - representing seaweed.

A true indulgence

Proudly, this sushi platter was created in Malaysia itself, and has been launched in 6 other markets.

Dina and I, truly enjoyed our 'meal'

While indulging ourselves with this excellent creation, it was just praises heard around this cosy session at Haagen-Dazs's SOHO outlet.

Thanks to Regina and Joelle from Pat-Lin Communications, and also to the client's side, for extending the invitation to us.

Checkers Pizza @ Bukit Damansara

Spotted this restaurant when I previously had dinner at Hot Chocolate, thus decided to give it a try. Its located in the middle of this row of shoplot (all shops are closed in the evening, except for Hot Chocolate and this one).

Upon walking in, was asked by the owner if we made any reservation, and not knowing that this is rather a popular restaurant around this neighbourhood, we were seated outside the restaurant. Nice to be seated outside, as it was rather noisy inside, within the closed door. It was a windy evening - and later throughout the dinner, it rained. Luckily the rain wasn't too heavy, and we didn't need to shift our table.

View from the outside

When asked the owner, what is nice to try? his reply was 'we have removed things that are not nice'.. Hmmmm.. So 'action' I thought, during then.

We tried the pesto sauce spaghetti with seafood. Don't see many of other restaurants serve spaghetti with pesto sauce, and this like this different offering found here. We like the fresh seafood - prawn and lala, and mushroom used to cook together with the spaghetti using pesto sauce. The portion was rather big too.

Seafood Spaghetti with Pesto sauce. Price-RM18.50

The other order we had was the grilled pork with sausage, combined with salad and mashed potato. The pork was grilled till really fragrant, and its flesh was truly moist and tender. The concoction of sauce tasted really special - not too sure what was it , but it did combined some cuts of onion, with sourish taste. Was also rather unique to have 'kacang kuda' served as part of salad.

Grilled Pork and Sausage with salad (top angle). Price-RM35

Grilled Pork and Sausage with salad (side angle)

While we were engrossed in our conversation, we were approached by the owner, if we'd like dessert. We had option of chocolate mid pie, or the cendol served with rambutan and ice-cream.

Opted for the 2nd one. Sooo glad we tried this - it was combination of scoop of really smooth vanilla ice-cream, topped with canned longan, cendol, cincau, almond, hazelnut, and the highlight of all, was the rum. This is truly a must-try.

Cendol with ice-cream. Price-RM15

The advantage I have is that, this place is located very near to my office. I can't wait to return here, for the very same dessert, and to try out its other dishes.

Bora Asmara @ Kg Sg Penchala

A restaurant nestled within the kampung neighbourhood sounds interesting to us (though I've been here few years back, can't quite remember how it was like, or how to get here). With the help of map from Bora Asmara, was here to celebrate the birthday of Aloy & Janice.

Love the ambiance that is towards the Balinese style - open-air and spacious enough. We were there early, before all other guests, and before the evening rain starts.

Within the restaurant compound

Another view of the restaurant

Berposing before our dinner

Apart from the quite a different ambiance, I wouldn't recommend one to come all the way here for the food, as the standard was so so only, truly. Bora Asmara would have garnered another visit in future should there were 50% of the dish we ordered the other day tasted good, however, am disapointed that none of the dish that made me feel that a returned visit will be worth it.

We started our dinner with Top Hat - a famous nyonya snack which also known as Pie Tee. The filling of the top hat combines sengkuang, carrot, egg and spring onion. Sadly the most important 'recipe' to make this good is the case/top hat that holds the filling which ought to be crispy was not the case. It tasted like this was prepared earlier, and not placed in an air-tight container.

Top Hat. Price-RM15.90

The nyonya asam fish being one the popular dish doesn't carry much aroma.

Nyonya Asam Fish. Price-RM42.90

The tofu was a simple dish using japanese tofu, fried, and cooked with oyster sauce together with mushroom. Doesn't taste bad, nor good.

Singkong Tofu. Price-RM12.90

The only better dish was the Ayam Bakar Warung which was barbecued well, fragant enough and moist tender tasting chicken. However, for this approximate 1/4 chicken size which costed RM19.90, not that worth it, I fel
t.

Ayam Bakar Warung. Price-RM19.90

The kailan with salted fish tasted just like an ordinary plate of vege, with really not much of salted fish spotted, nor much of its taste. Tasted like lots of oyster sauce was used to make this plate of vege tasty.

Kailan Salted Fish. Price-RM11.90

The pandan chicken surely lacks the aroma of fried chicken wrapped in pandan.

Thai Pandan Chicken. Price-RM19.90

I felt really bad for making some comments on the overall food quality. The only thing that enhanced our experience was the really friendly and helpful staff which were all the time ready to be our photographer that night.

Aloy & Janice - the birthday guy and girl (seated).
Standing from L : Sally, Sam, myself

Bora Asmara also has this band that comes around each table to sing for the guest, starting at 8.30pm. The lead singer could really sing well. Started with birthday song to Aloy & Janice, followed by 2 more numbers. From where we were seated, we saw a total of 3 birthday cakes brought into my guest, showing that this is indeed a popular restaurant for birthday celebration.

Being a little kiasu, we surrounded the band for a shot

Us being open to try out new places, could at least now say, at least we have tried, and hope Aloy and Janice had a wonderful birthday the other night.
