McD @ Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang

When sis told me she had breakfast at McD a week earlier, where by purchase of 2 cups of coffee, she received 2 sets of Big Breakfast free. I had to ask her to repeat her statement, as I find this deal to good to be true.

So I was really happy to find this McD's breakfast ad, with a cut-off coupon attached.

What a deal, from McD

Our attempt to have breakfast on a Sunday, to both McD outlets - failed, as both places were totally swamped with people... So, we postpone to claim the offer on Monday instead.

Though there was still queue, however, this is just a fraction of Sunday's crowd. The staff practically worked non-stop, in their attempt to serve the customers promptly. Well, there is surely a good reason to this fabulous deal - its a celebration in winning the Gold Putra Brand Award for 2 years in a row.

The Big Breakfast Set that consist of sausage McMuffin, scrambled egg and hash brown

Yumms, all ready to eat

What a big difference, after 11am, when the breakfast time ends

Mom posing proudly with her grand-daughters..

My cut-out coupon states 22 Mar as the last day of redemption, but the below coupon can still be printed out, and valid till 31 Mar for redemption.

The cut-out coupon

Even after this promo period, McD's breakfast is still very affordable...

McD's Weekday Special..

A change from my usual breakfast choices, I will head to McD for breakfast, occasionally, as McD does offer good value, filling breakfast meals.. :)

Shimino @ Ikano Power Centre, PJ

We, the locals, now are able to get a taste of Harajaku (Harajuku is located between Shinjuku and Shibuya, a fashion capital of the world renowned for unique street fashion). For this post, I am definitely not talking about fashion, but food. Thanks to Shimino that brought in the original crepe, which originated from Harajuku.

Shimino first started operation in Feb 2010, where it is a kiosk located at Ikano Power Centre, in between Uncle Lim and the post office. Since then, its concept has been restored, from an 'oranje' looking kiosk to now, a more vibrant kiosk, filled with pink color, brand name ie. Shimino that stood out with use of bling bling lighting and the revive is made possible by the new refreshing concept that is just so 'kawaii'. It somehow made me imagine on how it will be like on the street of Harajaku.
Btw, my imagination was 'assisted' by the video that was playing on the tv screen placed here. The video was showing long queue of customers at the kiosk, and the customers enjoying the crepe. The crepes are indeed very popular amongst the Japanese.

Totally in love with the concept

Overall, Shimino kiosk - eye catchy..Especially love the huge heart shaped fabric material placed at the side of the kiosk which spells out "Harajuku Japanese Crepes".

Shimino kiosk

After few minutes of admiring the kiosk, its time to do the ordering. So many different types of crepes that caught my attention. Some fillings available include kiwi, mandarin orange, red bean, few flavours of ice-cream... .
Thrown the question to Jo, my ex-employer, whom is now 1 of the business owner of Shimino, on what are the more popular crepes. Was told its mango with honey, and the chocolate cake and banana crepe. I opted for the latter.

Varieties that range from A to Q, with price that ranges from RM6.90 to RM9.90 per crepe

The mixed batter was spread thinly and evenly on the hot pan (was told that the hot pan was flown in from Japan), and upon the crepe being ready, the staff use the knife to hold/hang the crepe, and upon which, she swing the crepe a bit, in order to reduce the heat. This is so that to welcome the whipped cream to be added. ^-^ All crepe comes with whipped cream. The other filling for my order was cuts of chocolate cake, banana, nuts and chocolate sauce.

The staff preparing my crepe

Frankly, I was swallowing my saliva, as I can't wait to savour this cone looking crepe of mine. It is easy for me to fall in love, when it comes to food.. LOL, and I was definitely feeling 'that' kinda love when I took the first bite.
It was really soft, yet solid enough to hold all the filling together. And the 'secret recipe', apart from the batter, ought to be the whipped cream. It tasted milky, with a real smooth texture, which enhances the overall taste of this chocolate cake and banana crepes.

If one would like to have a light meal, this 1 crepe would have been the answer, or those who still have stomach space for dessert after a meal, this crepe proves to be not that filling afterall. It works, either way!!

Chocolate Cake and Banana Crepe. Price-RM7.90

Me & Jo, at Shimino's kiosk. The crepes held high - cheers!! Hehe... Congratulation to the business owners!

On my next visit here, ordered the mango crepe. Tasted really good! The mango tasted so sweet, and its flesh was indeed firm in texture, and something tells me that it was definitely the more expensive mango grade used.

Fresh Mango with Honey. Price-RM8.90

My 2 nieces - also lovin it..They agreed to take 1 bite each.. The joy of sharing... hehe..

Shimino has opened its 2nd kiosk at Pavillion, near to the cinema, in June 2010. Moving forward, we will definitely get to see more of Shimino's kiosks opening.

Dumpling for Duan Wu Jie/Rice Dumpling Festival

For as long as I could remember, my mom has been making dumpling yearly, in conjunction with the Dumpling Festival, which falls on the 5th day of the 5th month, of the Chinese calendar. Every year, she will occupy her time by wrapping up the dumpling, for a good 5 hours or so, and then slow cook them with charcoaled fire.

The fact that my mom makes it, I have seldom tasted dumpling made by others... And having accustomed to the taste, which is slightly sweet-ish, I liked this way dumplings are made.

I like the dumpling made by my mom due to the fact that she puts in chunks of mushroom, pork (without the fat), chestnut, dried prawns and buah kundur, together with the glutinous rice.

The pot of cooked 'ingredients'

Getting ready all ingredients

Each bamboo leaves are chosen to make sure it is big enough to hold up all the rice and fillings.

Rice with fillings ready to be wrapped

Wrapping the dumpling is definitely a skill to acquire, which requires lots of practicing. My mom made it sound really easy 'Just cover the leaves on the top with right hand, left hand hold the dumpling, and to press the left, right, and front part of the edges, so that the triangle shape comes out well".

The wrapping process

At time of tying the dumpling, the string has to go 2 rounds at the edge of the opening, to ensure the dumpling is in tact.

Mom does it graciously

This bunch of dumplings was my first ever attempt in wrapping them. Of course since this was first attempt, I only use rice to wrap them.. Hehe..

My first attempt in wrapping dumplings

Dumplings ready to be boiled

The cooking in process

Unwrapped the dumpling

The ingredients wrapped within the dumpling, ready to be eaten

Dumpling festival is over by the time I post this, nevertheless, wish everyone had a good 'Duan Wu Jie'.. Happy Dumpling Festival!!

Big Fish Moment with Pizza Hut

Introduction from the blogger :
I have invited my nieces to depict my 'Big Fish Moment' experience, and I am hereby presenting the 'Big Fish Moment with Pizza Hut' starring Qi and Yao.

Qi : "Boy, I slept till almost noon today, and my stomach is growling"

Qi : "I could barely open my eyes"

Qi : "Sis, what should we eat today?"
Yao : "My craving just kicked in .. I want Fisshhhh!"
Qi :"Alright, let's wake up, get changed, and follow me"

Qi checking with Yao on what she like to eat, before getting out of bed

After their bath, Qi took Yao to the kitchen.

Qi :"Let's cook ourselves.. Could you lend me a hand. I see mom do this all the time. Looks real easy"
Yao : "Ok! If you say so"

The girls enjoying themselves, doing the 'masak-masak'

After minutes of attempt, Qi gave up.
Feeling extremely hungry and disappointed, Yao can't help but to cry out aloud.

Yao : "Where is my fish!!!! Waaaaaaaaa!!!"

Being the loving elder sis, Qi gently pat Yao's face, in hope to pacify her.

Qi : "My dearest sister.. you don't need to react so greatly over a meal"

Qi trying to coax Yao not to cry

Yao cried even louder after hearing what Qi had to say.

Yao : "Today is jut not my day... Go away, go away!"

Yao : "Watch out for my flying kick"

After failing several attempts, Qi maintained her coolness, and suddenly, a thought came to her mind. A standee outside Pizza Hut which she saw from Pizza Hut @ Subang Parade last week, that also spells 'F-I-S-H' and not just that, it's 'F-I-S-H K-I-N-G'.

Qi : "I've got a brilliant idea"

Qi got a driver to bring the both of them to THE place... Pizza Hut outlet at Taman Sentosa, Klang.

Spotted Pizza Hut from afar

From the standee, Qi remembered the 'talent' caught some cute fishes using fishing rod, and she would also like to attempt and demonstrate to Yao, how catching using fish net is like.

At her first attempt, oooppppsss... failed.. Caught Yao in the net.

Yao : "Hey, sis.. Why did you catch me"
Qi : "I don't mean to, but you do look cute in it". "Let me try one more time"

Qi feeling ticklish over the fact that she caught Yao with the fish net

During the 2nd attempt, not sure how Qi did it, but she was also caught within.

The 2 girls struggled, without help from any passerby.

Struggling to escape

Qi : "Yao, stop smiling, and help us get out of here!"
Yao : "Don't blame me, it's all your fault wanting to demonstrate catching fish using this fish net"

Trying harder to escape

After few minutes of struggle, both managed to escape.

Qi : "Luckily my hair is not messed up"

After much drama outside, the girls finally get to step inside Pizza Hut.
This is such a big Pizza Hut outlet, and it is even connected to KFC. Spacious with holding capacity of up to 2 floors, this is really a popular dining place for people around this neighbourhood. With its interior using much of brown color, and the right kind of lighting, it just added to the the cosy-ness feeling.

Inside Pizza Hut

When Qi spotted this traymat on the table, she immediately shouted out "THIS IS IT!!" "The pizza that the fisherman on standee was holding".

Makes one drool just by looking at the Fish King Pizza traymat

Been thought to be a prudent kid, Qi immediately did the comparison :
Fish King Set 1 (recommended for 2 persons)
1 Regular Fish King Pizza
2 Soup of the Day
4 pcs Garlic Breadstick
2 glasses of Pepsi
Price - RM28.00

Fish King Set 2 (recommended for 4 persons)
1 Large Fish King Pizza
4 Soup of the Day
4 pcs Garlic Breadstick
1 pitcher of Pepsi
Price - RM49.00

Wow, the above deal is definitely 'Big On Fish! Bigger On Value'... However, since there were only the 2 of them, and after much discussion, they would like to consider the a'la carte menu :
RM23.90 for Regular Pizza, and RM32.90 for Large Pizza.Wanting to pack home some, they opted for the Large Pizza.

Qi and Yao : "Now that we have ordered, we are on stand-by mode to eat"

All ready to eat

When the Fish King Pizza was served, they put on their 'spotlight' eyes by making their eyes go bigger, so that they can see clearly the extremely yummy looking serving of pizza.

Qi : "Mamamia!! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 fish fingers"
Yao : "I'm going to eat 2, sis 2, and we can pack back the rest"

The girls fully set their eyes on the Fish King Pizza

It would be difficult for one to resist this 'biggest catch', the latest introduction by Pizza Hut, the Fish King Pizza. Served piping hot, it is loaded with 8 fish fingers made from specially-imported Alaskan Pollock, crabsticks, Mozzarella cheese, roasted capsicums, yellow onions and juicy pineapples, on all a cool lime mayo sauce that simply spells 'REFRESHING'. A pizza serving so compact with ingredients, and Alaskan Pollock being said to be "the largest remaining source of palatable fish in this world" truly depicts its tagline of 'Big On Fish! Bigger On Value'.

Yummy-licious Fish King Pizza

How can one not drool over the cheesiness of the Mozzarella cheese that gives the chewy and stringy effect as it melts.

Align CenterFish King Pizza, with the 'melting' strings of the Mozzarella cheese

After just 1 bite of the pizza, Qi and Yao can't resist but to give a thumbs-up.

Qi and Yao : "This surely deserve our thumbs up"

Qi took each bite of the pizza with full satisfaction. All ingredients in this Fish King Pizza complimented each other so well, and the tender on the inside and yet crispy on the outside of Alaskan Pollock fish was Qi's favorite.

Qi : "This is what I call enjoying my every moment of Fish King Pizza"

Yao on the other hand, being a cheese lover, just love it when she saw the string of cheese when she pulled the pizza away after her bite.

Yao : "This fish king pizza is indeed filled with cheesiness of the mozzarella cheese"

Minutes later, Yao, seeing Qi almost finished up her share of pizza, quickly held her pizza really tight.. Just in case....... She too, enjoyed each bite of this supreme flavour Fish King Pizza, and with the cheesiness, truly a plus point.

Yao : "Take bigger bite, before Qi attacks my share of pizza"

After finishing their share of pizza, the 2 girls can't wait to head home, and share the delicious pizza with their family. While leaving Pizza Hut, Yao noticed someone was looking at them.

Yao : "Sis, I think someone is looking at us"
Qi : "Don't be afraid. I'm here to protect you. Let's find out what they want"

Qi giving Yao assurance that it's ok

After clarifying, they were actually asked if they'd like to be the 'model' for Maybankard and American Express credit card. And so, they happily agreed, and posed for it.

Offered exclusively for Maybankard and American Express card members, a discount of 30% is extended for Fish King Pizza a'la carte pizza order, for dine-in and take-away only.

What a deal! Not just the Fish King Pizza is Big On Fish! Bigger On Value! and now, an additional perk to sweetened the entire deal....What other way to conclude that 'The Deal Just Gets Better. Only at Pizza Hut. Specially for Fish King Pizza Lovers'.
