Dubrovnik @ Solaris

Inside of Restaurant Dubrovnik

Cosy seating

Heard much about Hong Kong SOHO, and London SOHO, and now, we here have our own KL SOHO. Also known as Solaris, this area really offer some good variety of restaurants.

Ever tried Croatian/Mediterreanean food? Dubrovnik Restaurant is the 1st and only Croatian restaurant in Malaysia currently, and will be the right choice for those who enjoy trying out food from other parts of the world.

Dubrovnik's setting is inspired by the old medieval city of Dubrovnik in Croatia, known as the "Pearl Of The Mediterranean".

Dubrovnik epitomises passion for good food and drink. One of a really unique appetizer-Palacinke, which is crepes filled with cream cheese and baked in oven. Take a deep breath when Palacinke is served, and the smell of cheese.. hmmm..yummy...

Palacinke. Price-RM18

There is this new item on the menu that swept me away-its Ragusa chicken. The chicken marinated with its own 'secret' marination, is being grilled and then oven baked. Topped with 3 types of mushroom sauce, and which comes with Rosti potato, which is being mashed, and fried, oh my god.. the combination is match made in heaven.

The tenderness and juiciness of the chicken, the thickness in the mushroom sauce, the crispiness and the smell of potato left me in my own eating heaven, as I took each bite.

Ragusa Chicken. Price-RM40

Also a new item on the menu, Spaghetti alla Buzara, which is cooked with prawns, tossed in a light garlic, parsley, olive oil and white wine sauce.

Spaghetti alla Buzara. Price-RM29

And lastly, decided to take-away 1 of my top favorite dessert-since I last had it during pre-Christmas celebration, and all 14 of us at that time agreed that The Royal Chocolate Mousse is simply delicious. The crispiness of the base, gives me the feeling like I was having Ferrero Rocher chocolate, and the top is the chocolate mousse.

The Royal Chocolate Cake. Price-RM17

Jin Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum @ D'sara Jaya

Heard a lot about dim sum at Jin Xuan Hong Kong at Damansara Jaya - heard its 'peng leng cheng' / 'cheap & good' previously, and decided to go there last Friday. Did not order too many as my friend don't usually take breakfast, and thus, me alone, won't be able to eat too much. Will definitely come back for more.

Appetizing dim sum

Wish I can have them all

Siu Mai

Char Siu Sou

My favourite, brinjal

The price is rather reasonable. For all the above that I've eaten (shots that are closed up), plus a ginseng loh hon kor drink, the total bill came up to RM18. Big Dim Sum at RM4 per plate, and Medium Dim Sum at RM3.50 per plate.

Waraku @ The Central, Singapore

Me & Fei enjoying our satisfying lunch

On 3 Jan '09, Fei & I had lunch at Waraku, at Central Plaza. Looking through the menu alone is good enough to make my saliva drool. Everything looks soo good. Wish I am not going back to Malaysia so soon, so I can try more of the items in the menu.

Having to shortlist of the long long listd, Fei recommended this mini pizza that he tried before. Its really mini, possibly about 5" x 5".. but the taste of it, wow... crispy and really yummy..

Okonomi pizza. Price-SGD6.80 + Waraku's menu

Fei also recommended the Sakura set - cheese in cream sauce with udon noodles and fresh salmon roe topped with egg on rice. A first for me, udon in cream sauce.. the smell of the cheese.. hmm.. really rich, however not 'jelak' at all.. The size of the bowl - 2x size of normal face.. ;-)

Size of bowl - no kidding. Could be 3x size of face.. ;-)

Sakura set : SGD18.80

Siu Yee Restaurant

Nixon took me to this Chinese restaurant when I was in Singapore. The ambience, and its food variety are very different to what we find here.. Their specialty - the duck, which combines cooking with Chinese herbs and for those duck lovers, there are page of history and culture of roast duck, and the origin of herbal roast duck within the menu.

Another interesting item that
strikes me while I going through the menu is the crocodile meat soup. Cooked together with Prunus and Chuang Bei, it can moisture lung and drives dryness, eliminate phlegm and relive cough. Crocodile mean treats asthma, improves eyesigth and enhances skin beauty. Apa lagi, sure I wanna try. This is a really nice soup, and the taste of the meat, tender.. ;-)

The Menu

Atmosphere is just like restaurant from the olden days

Abalone mushroom, cooked with Chinese wine

Roasted Duck

Stewed Crocodile Meat with Sweet & Bitter Almonds & Chuang Bei. Price-SGD6.80

Deep fried Kailan with Floss. Price-SGD10.80

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar

Went for dinner on 1 Jan 2009 at Food Junction, Wisma Atria : Koh Grill & Sushi Bar.
The Food Junction looks pretty similar to the one recently opened in The Gardens, but the food quality in most stalls at The Gardens sulks.

Though this Japanese food is located at food court, the quality and taste of its food can definitely beat some of the food served in the Japanese restaurants.

Koh Grill & Sushi Bar

Sashimi that is part of the Bento Set. Really fresh! Price-SGD16.90

Shiok!!! Maki. Price-SGD15

This Shiok!! Maki really taste one of a kind.. The thing that makes it perfect is that the cheese and eel that is being charcoaled grilled, wrapped with lightly roasted salmon. Truly heavenly combination...
Will definitely visit Koh Grill & Sushi Bar the next time I visit Singapore.. ;-)
