Shisha Lounge @ Solaris Mont Kiara, KL

Again I made my visit to Shisha Lounge. This is just a post to show what I had during lunch. 

I often find myself craving for them, so I just had to order both chicken dishes. 
Their chicken is just fantastic.  Tasted so good, with excellent marination done.

And they offer super good deal for lunch. On the right is their chicken breast kebab offered as part of set lunch which cost only RM15, which includes that, a plate of saffron rice, salad and a can of soft drink. Ain't sure where else to find such good deal. 

As for the chicken on the left hand side, its Chicken Kebab on bone. Its only available for ala-carte  ala-carte order. Because it taste so good, I was even willing to order it despite it cost more than double of the set lunch price. Super yummy. I almost can't help myself even as I'm sharing this.

Ministry Of Coffee @ Solaris Mont Kiara, KL

Having heard of Ministry of Coffee (MOC), I somewhat failed to check out the exact location of this cafe when I was at the neighbourhood. And one day, 'ta-dah', I spotted it. If one enters the SOHO car park, just look for the J exit, and MOC is facing the back road of the building.

I somewhat did not expect the size of the cafe to be this big. It occupied up to 2 floors, and overall, it offers an absolutely comfortable environment for those who appreciates spending good relaxing time in cafes.

Having read the story on Doi Chaang coffee, I felt that its a story worth telling. It began when villagers of this hill tribe of the Doi chang Village (located in Northern Thailand region of the Golden Triangle) united to create their own coffee company. Talk about team work! The effort resulted in their own unique taste of single-estate, organic Arabica coffee. It is in fact now recognized as the top 1% of coffee. And having received many accolades for its quality of bean, one would not need any other assurance of the coffee quality.

I like the whole deco of Ministry of Coffee. Spacious, high ceiling, with a feature area, where they hang many colorful cups and sauces turned upside down, incorporating them to lighting. A creative way of using such simple items.

I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of food made available by this cafe, where they offered pasta, pizza, sandwich, salad, which comes in variety of choices, apart from their specialty coffee. 

In future, I will not pretend to be a person that is able to take strong coffee. I ordered the Piccolo Latte at first, where it is made up of double shot of espresso, and very little milk. I could take really bitter Chinese medicine, but I wouldn't want my coffee to taste this bitter. I then had to request for additional milk to add on. Then it turned out to be Latte like drink, which I was very much comfortable with. The distinct rich taste of the coffee aroma was apparent.

Spotted Open Fish Pie on their menu. In fact, I didn't really have much clue of what I was ordering. But when I was presented the food, oh i see... This is an open style pie, whereby instead of closing it up as a pie, its actually exposed. Cooked with creamy sauce, which taste absolutely delicious, it came with pan fried seabass, sauteed vegetable, and creamy mashed potato.

Just look at how beautiful is this dish. They gave generous portion of the fish, and the seabass does tasted very fresh and delicious. Within this plate of dish, there were so much of vegetables, which made up of capsicum, zucchini, carrot, and spring onions. 

The mashed potatoes was not too smashed up, and I could taste chunks of potatoes, which gave a different texture to the tastebud, and the portion was seriously a lot, and I definitely couldn't finish my meal. 
As for the the cream, it was indeed very creamy and tasty, with the right level of saltiness. Thumbs up to this dish.

Whimsical Cafe @ Publika, KL

Whimsical gives me a feeling of dreamy and happy. The set up of the cafe somewhat shares the similar impression that I got, from its name. 

Having first entered the F&B market though its Cielo Dolci gelato, it has now spanned to a full fledge cafe, serving food, and apart from some interesting gelato flavors, they have also infused selected flavors into their food offering.

The gelato flavors are listed on the wall, and I thought, how would it be possible to have a Nasi Lemak gelato flavor. Upon sampling it, its indeed like I was eating Nasi Lemak, as the gelato was made with sambal. Overall, I see that their price is very reasonable, with only RM7.90 per scoop, RM13.90 for double, and RM18.90 for triple. 

Other flavors include cookies & cream, dark belgian chocolate, jackfruit, salted caramel, rum & raisin and coconut gula melaka. 

I suppose the brief to the person to come out with the gelato flavors, was "let your imagination run wild!"

I was tempted to try their new offering, the Salmon Gelato & Rosti. A dish that totally led my  curiosity to tinkle. I can't imagine how would salmon gelato taste. 

When served, I was pleased with the presentation of a sunny side up egg and the salmon gelato on top of the rosti. The rosti tasted extremely good, with slight crust, while using loads of potatoes within. I'm a potato lover, thus, this would be the food to feed me. 

The salmon gelato totally took me by surprise. It has just enough taste of salmon, but not fishy in that context, and the texture of gelato was so creamy and yummy.

Working with Artisan Roastery, Whimsical created some specialty blend. They also inspire to come out with variety of intriguing pairings combining gelato and coffee. 

I went for the safe option by having Latte. It was indeed a good cup of coffee, with just the right amount of milk with espresso.

Fat Boys @ Publika, Kuala Lumpur

Publika is occupied with good F&B outlets, that one will be so spoilt for choices. 

Having heard much about food at Fat Boy's, I was up to give it a try as I passed by its very vibrant entrance. Fat Boy's has a simple interior that will make their customers at ease, and I observed many of its crowd are of family crowd.

The logo of Fat Boy's is a cute one to represent 'Fat Boy'. Its as though its saying 'you better trust this Fat Boy, or else I may be upset'. Haha... Its just my crazy interpretation.

Fat Boy's specialize in burgers, and its interesting that there are options of choosing exactly what you fancy, to go in your burger, where they introduce a 4 steps process, where you can choose your bun, patty, add-ons (such as fried egg, bacon, mushroom, and the list goes on), and lastly the sauces. Each selection will cost from as low as RM1 to RM14. I liked the idea of such customization made available by Fat Boy's. 

However, our appetite doesn't call for burger that evening. Oh, fret not, there , thus, there are in fact many other choices made available by Fat Boy's. 

We started the meal with Chicken Caesar Salad. It was served on a chilled aluminium plate, whereby the romaine lettuce, too, was chilled. Salad truly taste so much better when served chilled. Their version of salad is not overly fancy, yet topped with the basic ingredients made right. Its topped with lots of parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons, and credit goes to the absolutely delicious grilled chicken. The chicken carried an apparent crisp from the grilling process, and despite it being breast meat, every bite was so tasty. And I appreciate that The Fat Boy's version of salad is value for money, and its served with big sized chicken which was then sliced. One of the best salad in town.

My friend ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, where it was chicken breast coated with parmesan cheese and pan fried, served with tomato, some vegetable and a slice of cheese on toasted ciabatta bread. The main dish was served with steak cut fries. 

The overall combined taste of the ingredients was satisfactory.

The Honey Mustard Chicken Kebab was another delicious dish. It was served with their house salad, with vinaigrette dressing. There's enough green within the salad, with rocket salad, capsicum, lettuce, topped with cherry tomatoes. Nice mix to the colors. 
The breast meat chicken was grilled together with onions, and capsicums. The chicken was tasty, and the process of grilling truly brought out the natural sweetness of the onion and capsicum. Despite given honey mustard sauce separately, I felt that the sauce drizzled onto my kebab was sufficient.
The mashed potatoes has a really fine and smooth texture, and it almost melted in my mouth. And sufficient brown sauce was given. 
This chicken was dish was good, however, I still felt that the grilled chicken from the Caesar Salad tasted much better.

All our 3 dishes were chicken dishes. No complaint as they tasted good, however, would certainly be back to try their other offerings, and surely, their burger.

Lazeez @ Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Having passed Lazeez several times, I had the perception that they mainly served pastries. Only discovered very recently that they serve extremely yummy Iranian lunch and dinner.

As I sat inside the restaurants, I could see that Lazeez was filled up with mainly regular customers, that seems totally familiar of what they are set to have for their lunch.

Most customers, I saw ordered their packet rice which comes with chicken and a soft drink or ice lemon tea at only RM8. And I had that, during my 2nd visit here. It was rice cooked with extract of tomatoes, coupled with cuts of fresh tomatoes, and a 1/4 grilled chicken. Satisfying.

I was a little drooling when I walked to their spread of food to make my choice.

Even the look of their rice was enough to make me happy. There are choices of broad bean and dill rice, lentil rice and raisins, plain rice and green bean rice.

From the square cut of rice, it was really too much for one to finish. Its soft rice cooked with saffron and filled with some chicken shred.

I can't keep my eyes off what one customer was having. He was having this piece of big Lasagne which looked absolutely appetizing. The soft cheese on top seemed irresistible. A look at how the lasagne looked is in my picture below.

This was the chicken I had. It tasted a little like our Chinese style of "Choy Kiok", the sour & spicy vege. This tasted a little more mild, with slight sourness. Chicken was cooked long enough and meat was soft and tender.

The other dish I had was their Gheymeh, a yummy mixture of meat and eggplant with split peas cooked in tomato paste. Excuse my picture, as I only remembered to snap a picture, half way eating. @__@

We also had the yoghurt with cucumber to accompany my rice.

I tried one of the best tasting sauce at Lazeez. Its a concoction of tomatoes, chilli, lime or lemon, and I couldn't figure out the rest. Hehe... But the tanginess of this sauce makes me crave for more. 
However, during my 2nd visit, the taste differs, and it was much more spicy from the sauce I had during my 1st visit (as illustrated in picture below).

Overall, their food was really fresh. All are cook near to lunch time, and customers get to eat hot food. Yumms.

Shisha Lounge @ Solaris Mont Kiara

Having started its operation since 2009, Shisha Lounge has survived through its years of operation, when I see many F&B outlets has changed its operator, around the SOHO Solaris area.

I was somewhat convinced to come try food at Shisha Lounge last weekend, and was told that they served really good tasting Iranian food. In addition to this, they also served other varieties like Italian, Korean, Western like food.

I ought to say, this is one of the best food discovery, as I was almost in heaven, when I savor this one of the best tasting food I've ever tried. Hey, where have I been?

We started with the Gheymeh and Eggplant stew. Gheymeh is a Persian stew and in this option that we ordered, consist of eggplant and split peas. I love the thickness of this stew, that just goes so well with our rice. Eggplant is loved by Iranians and known as "the potato of Iran"..

As part of side order to accompany our rice, we also ordered the yoghurt, that comes with small cuts of cucumbers, and dashes of mint.

Yummeh Saffron rice..

The one photo I did not took was the saffron rice.  This was one of the best tasting rice ever. As I tried to find out a little more, I understand that Iranians has 3 methods of cooking rice. In this particular saffron rice that I tried, its parboiled rice, called 'chelo' where rice is first soaked in salted water before boiling. It is then drained and returned to the pot to be steamed. This method results in an exceptionally fluffy rice with the rice grains separated and non sticky. A big plate enough to be shared by 2 only costed us RM5. Way too reasonable. It also came with some butter for us to mix with the rice, resulting me to have continuous thought about this rice, even days after this meal I had. Oh dear! This is like I've fallen in love... with rice... *__*

A point to note, we ordered the Kebab, and the wait for a little long.. I think slightly around 20.. but but, it was definitely worth the wait, as the meat  has to be slowly barbecued, upon order.

We had the Barg Kebab which means Fillet Kebab, which is a Persian styled barbecued lamb, chicken or beef.  We ordered the beef, whereby its cut to stripes and marinated in onion and mix herbs. It was so flavorful, and with it being barbecued, the taste was even more enhanced, and the meat was so tender. A little sourish flavor that came with squeeze of lime onto the beef, alleviate the taste a little more.

Being a chicken lover, we also ordered the Chicken Kebab. I'm not exaggerating if I say that this is one of the best tasting chicken that I ever tasted. Its insanely good! Again so flavorful, and the marination must have worked so well, as I totally can taste full flavor on every part of the meat.

Shisha Lounge also offer performance daily, starting from 11pm.. and was told it ends around 3am. To all the late night crowd, this would be the right place to go.. And reservation is necessary for Fri-Sun, as there are huge crowd during these days.
