CNY Visiting @ 3 Home Sweet Home in 1/2 Day

CNY gives more reason to catch up, and visiting amongst ex-colleagues. I managed to catch up with more friends this year than the past, therefore, not too bad, in terms of collecting angpows. ^-^

During visiting last week, we can't escape from being served food from the hospitable hosts.

My 1st stop was to David and Beng Suan's home. Beng Suan served us the farfalle pasta cooked with chicken pesto sauce and fettuccine with green pea and chicken in creamy sauce. Both tasted good, but I prefer the farfalle. The sauce tasted really good. In fact, though Beng Suan doesn't cook much, seemed like her cooking skills improved.

We then moved to Kristine's home that is just few steps away. The gang took the opportunity to celebrate Kristine and Belle's belated birthday. Eat again..

Needless to say, Ruffie, Kristine's pet dog, a breed mix between Pomeranian and Chihuahua, was the centre of attraction the afternoon (both amongst the adults and the kids). Ruffie must be really tired playing with us.

Adorable Ruffie

Beautiful vase of flowers at Kristine's home

The road was rather jam getting to Candice's home, and served home cooked food.

Just love the chinese sausage steamed with scallion (usually to take only the root bulb). The taste will be milder when steamed together. I love to eat it more raw, mixed with lime.

Steamed Lap Cheong

Rice cooked with chicken and mushroom

We were also served Candice's specialty soup, and vege.

Love to see the young kids seated at a table, and listen to their 'seemed-to-be' matured conversation.

The 5 cuties

This was the lou sang from Grand Imperial before our dinner started. This was one of the better tasting lou sang I've tried this year.

All ready to 'lou lou lou'. The cute Maegan (in the middle) joined the adults

A lot of wishes were made during the lou sang. May all come true for all of us.

Thanks to all the lovely hosts. Wished the night was longer, to have spent more time together.

Shasa Shabu-Shabu @ Kuchai Lama

Being the only one that worked on 4th day CNY, joined the gang for dinner after work. *-* We ended up having Shabu-Shabu at Kuchai Lama, as recommended by Lung.

Priced at RM31.80 per pax, no wonder this buffet steamboat restaurant was jam packed when we arrived.

From Japanese restaurant that used to serve sushis on conveyor belt, steamboat buffet restaurant that uses conveyor belt style are also getting more popular. We can take anything from the conveying belt, and also order the pork and beef slices. For plates of fishball, each plate only has up to 3 pieces or so. So nice to see all the plates stacked up.. Shows that we eaten a lot, and make it worth the money paid.

Each of us will get own bowl of soup. Soup choices are miso soup, clear soup or tom yam.

Plates of 'good stuff' on the conveyor belt

During first 10 mins or so, we were continuously taking plates from the conveyor belt. Seriously, there are really lots and lots of food - fresh plates of fishballs, prawns, meatball, pork and beef slices, vege, beancurd skin, mussel, squid, dumpling... really bermacam-macam le..

Lots of food

Upon filling up our stomach, we can relax and snap a few shots of ourselves.

By the end of the dinner, the table was completely messed up. And yes, we have eaten lots of food.

The Bread Shop @ Bukit Damansara

After being at Tai Chung for 4 months, my best friend, Shereen, is back - to celebrate CNY. She came for lunch soon enough upon her return, yay yay.. thus, I brought her to The Bread Shop, located next to Decanter at Bukit Damansara (by the time I post this, she has flown back to Tai Chung... time flies even faster when we are having good time ^-^).

The Bread Shop, from outside

Once we stepped in, we were greeted by the fresh bread smell. Love the greyish wall all around, simple setting, high seated chairs, and not forgetting the fresh flowers.

Shereen, with the ever cheery BIG smile

Shared the croissant with smoked chicken, which also accompanied by slices of mango, and salad by the side. Quite a fresh combination.

The fresh tomato with melted cheese on toast was also quite a nice combination. All good quality ingredient, including the wholemeal bread.

We end our meal with 2 scones, with fresh cream and strawberry jam. Tasted not too fantastic, just alright.

Hakka Republic @ Menara Hap Seng, KL

For CNY, and post Valentine, ought to find a restaurant with nice ambience, to celebrate the occasion (always thinking of excuses for fine-dining).

Before dinner, was at babe's home, and was labeled to be 'cam-whoring' - just because I took a few self-snap shots as I can't resist this corner, with the shades of the evening sun, shining through the curtain, right onto the the cherry blossom, tucked at the corner of the earthy tone colored wall.

This is the corner I was referring to

Babe agreed to my 'proposal' of having dinner the other night at Hakka Republic. What better than taking advantage of the smooth traffic during CNY, to head to town.

This is the way to Hakka Republic. ^-^

The restaurant was rather empty when we stepped in. Love the spaciousness of the restaurant, the typical Chinese feel of it and the different shaped lamp that filled the restaurant.

Nice red lamp decorated each of the table

Hakka Republic is well known for its selection of wine, but we went for margarita the other night.
When I checked with the waitress on what's the sign printed beside some of the menu items, was told that because it's not available. Seriously?? If so, why bother to have a special sign printed out on menu, for unavailable items?

Figuring out what to order

We had some good time snapping pictures of each other, while sipping margarita before our meal was served.

Margarita 1+1. Price-RM48

When we were brought our salad, there was a strong aroma of the grilled prawn. It smell soooo good. We just love this plate of salad, fresh crunchy organic romaine lettuce, with homemade caesar salad sauce, plus the prawns (quite generous la, total about 6).. The prawn tasted so good, that it made the overall salad tasted especially good.

Romaine Lettuce with Prawns. Price-RM25

The other main meal that we really love was the aglio olio with seafood. Though it was a rather small portion of the angel hair served, this plate of spaghetti was an absolute must-have. It came with generous portion of salmon, squid, prawn, mussel and scallop. Yummy. It has strong taste of garlic, dried chilli, herbs and lots of olive oil. Just love this.

Aglio Olio with Seafood. Price-RM42

The miso black cod fish that we had was really fresh. However, we enjoyed the baby kailan that accompanied the cod fish, and the fish skin even more, as it has the smell good factor in it.

Miso Black Cod Fish. Price-RM55

After the meal, we chilled out nearer to the bar area, with nice view of the KL Tower. The selection of songs played by Hakka Republic is in fact varied, as it jumped from a pop song, to slow rock, to Chinese, to love song - all seem to jumbled up.. Maybe that's what made this place a little more special.

View of KL Tower

Love the striking red wall outside the restaurant, and being a Hakka, ought to take a picture, in front of the 'Hakka' Republic wording. Another excuse to take picture. ^-^
