Departure Lounge @ Taman Mayang Bukit Mas

Read some articles on Departure Lounge previously, and finally checked out 2 weekends ago, with Boon. This is when I return his baby, Canon450D. Sob sob. Well, I should be thankful that he has been kind enough to lend it to me.

Once I stepped in, I just love it. Cosy enough. There isn't too heavy crowd here, thus a real ideal place for relaxing, catching up with friends, surfing which comes with free wifi or to research on travel destinations as Departure Lounge offer quite extensive range of books on traveling.

Saving my stomach for dinner, I just ordered a mushroom soup, french fries for sharing, and a cookies and cream blended coffee.

Didn't quite like the mushroom soup - feels like canned soup.

Mushroom Soup. Price-RM3.90

I absolutely love the french fries though. The french fries are cut thick enough, and gives me the feeling I'm having something between fries and wedges. The garlic mayonnaise sauce adds flavor to it.

Sugimoto @ Sri Hartamas

For those who love Japanese food, bet the person must have tried or at least heard of Sugimoto. And for those who think that Japanese food is costly, there is this really reasonable set lunches at Sugimoto - Lunch Box A which cost RM14 for 2 choices, and Lunch Box B which cost RM18 for 3 choices. Both lunch boxes comes with green salad, garlic rice/white rice, chawan mushi, miso soup and fruits. This is anytime cheaper that what one need to pay for their share in Sushi King.

As for the choices, one will really be spoilt with choices - from their list of 30 long items. And it ranges from california roll, unagi roll, sashimi, shake teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, saba fish.

Suan and I were first served the chawan mushi. Not to exaggerate. This has to be the best chawan mushi I ever had. The egg is extremely soft, and it melted in my mouth. Even the chawan mushi that comes with the set meal taste so good, what more if its those ordered from the menu.

Chawan Mushi . Part of set meal

The garlic rice was really fragrant. The bowl of rice is considered quite big for us girls to finish on our own.
Garlic rice

Suan and I ordered the same 2 choices out of the 3, ie. the 3 kinds of raw fish, and the Saba fish salted grilled. The other 1 choice, Suan had the Agedashi Dofu (3pcs), while I had the Salmon & cream cheese rolled (4pcs).

The set lunch was absolutely worth for money. And no room for ANY dissatisfaction. I wish there is more 'room' in my stomach. Having such uncalled-for heavy lunch on Friday afternoon, I'm glad that I pulled through the rest of the working day without snoozing off. * <> *

The Steamboat Ketam Village @ Desa Park City

After Cass brought me to Desa Park City, I have been so 'rajin' to bring my friends here. Shereen and I wanted to have something light, thus decided to try The Steamboat. Steamboat is getting more and more popular, and the places that I know has the most steamboat restaurants are Menjalara and Bandar Bukit Tinggi. Most selling fresh ingredients from Pulau Ketam.

Shereen & Me
Steamboat here is served with individual pot.

Individual pots

We opted for the Mix Ball Noodle Set, and Dumpling Noodle Set. This 2 sets combined comes with noodle, slices of fish cake, types of fish ball, dumpling and crab stick. When it is served as such, it is also like cooking your own noodle soup. Having steamboat that claims that their ingredients are supplied from Pulau Ketam, you can't get too wrong, as the ingredients are usually FRESH.

Mix Ball Noodle Set.Price-RM8.80, Dumpling Noodle Set.Price-RM9.80

It was after rain when we got here, so the night was especially cooling, and seated outside where there is wind breeze and top up with the park view, makes me enjoy the dinner even more. Of course the companion perfects it. * <> *

New York New York @ One Utama

Met up with Ivy, errr, some time ago. I eat out so often, and now I can't seem to be able to keep up in my update.
* <> *

I've not been to 1U for a while, until about a month ago. And the number of restaurants that has opened, replacing the area previously occupied by Giant at the New Wing, gives us a lot more choices to savour our tastebud. We decided to have dinner in New York New York - love the rounded seating.

Me & Ivy

A sucker to interesting names, decided to go for the Roasted Mushroom Cappuccino soup. The description - 'cream of roasted mushrooms with frothed milk and topped with a sprinkle of cocoa powder. The perfect pick-me-up! ' and so I decided to pick it up. However, I finished what sounded special - the frothed milk and cocoa powder by the first 2 scoop into the soup. Perhaps, I should actually blend them together before drinking it.. Hmmm..

Roasted Mushroom Cappuccino Soup. Price-RM6.90

Ordered the mushroom and roasted vege salad. This salad is dressed with garlic vinaigrette. A little sourish. Don't quite like this salad.

Mushroom & Roast Vege Salad.Price-RM10.50

And the main meal that we had was Spaghetti Mushroom Alfredo with Chicken Fillet. Only when I am writing this, I realized all 3 items ordered that night comes with mushroom. A real mushroom lover or what. The sauce thickness is just nice. This dish is recommended when you feel like having alfredo spaghetti, and roasted chicken at the same time.

Spaghetti Mushroom Alfredo with Chicken Fillet. Price-RM25.90

Though feeling really full, we wanted to try out their dessert, and since having Heng who joined us towards end of the dinner, we went ahead to order. At least we have him as our back-up, should we are not able to finish the dessert. Hehe. The dessert is so rich in chocolate, and is gone in 5 mins.

Aoyama @ Sri Hartamas

It's been a while since I last visited Aoyama (Green Room). Was there last Mon for my bud's - Audrey early birthday celebration. Come to a stage in life, we always will remind ourselves that 'age is just a number, think & feel young'. Hmm.. wonder why.. ^ - ^

Deciding to not take the set dinner, we picked a few appetizers, maki, rolls, noodles, and ta dah.. we ended up eating non-stop the other night.

Kim, Jo, Audrey & Me

Everything we had was fresh and the delicate presentation of the food is true to Japanese culture.

We were first served the tuna tempura with garlic (Maguro Tempura). Freshness of the tuna can still be felt even after the frying. ^ - ^ And this is the first time I tasted fried tuna. Ichiban.

Then comes the Age Tashi Tofu. My mouth took every bite gently, from the the lightly fried layer of the tofu skin, to the tofu itself. So so soft.

Next is my favourite fried small prawns (Koebi Karaage) and fried small squid (
Ika Geso Karaage). Crispy, aromatic, and with just-nice saltiness, makes us can't stop eating. These are just the right appetizer to go with sake.

Top left : Maguro Tempura.Price-RM26, Age Tashi Tofu.Price-RM10
Bottom left : Ika Geso Karaage.Price-RM9, Koebi Karaage.Price-RM9

We each had 1 hand roll.

The cold soba (Cha Soba) tasted especially nice. My tongue was spelling mamamia when it felt the slight coldness of the soba, after dipped in the sauce and wasabi.

The salted grilled Saba was real aromatic and fresh.

The Soft Shell Crab Maki was really good too. Apart from the soft shell crab, not sure what was the filling, but it was really crunchy and crispy.

One of the highlight of the night was the Tai fish sashimi (Ninki Tai). Combining the sashimi with wasabi, dipped slightly in the soya sauce, we were rewarded with tender mouthfuls of incredibly tasty and absolutely fresh, slices of fish.

We thought we could escape when the udon soup (Inaniwa Udon) wasn't served till much later. Anyway, the broth of the udon soup is simply delicious.

Hot Sake.Price-RM30, Macha Ice-cream.Price-RM6

Oh ya, we ordered a bottle of warm Sake too, to celebrate the special occasion. Not knowing how to appreciate Sake, I must say it was good somewhat.

One thing great about Japanese food is that you can eat to our satisfaction, and even with a heavy stomach, we still can say that it was indeed a healthy meal.

At the end of the dinner, we were completely stuffed - however, can still make just a little space for Macha ice-cream.

I must say, that among my many visits in the past, none beats this round as everything was just so perfect. Looks like really need to go with people that knows what they are ordering, instead of me taking the normal set dinner. (Thanks to Kim & Jo for the ordering).

Popeyes @ Taman Tun

Saw a coverage on Popeyes , thus decided to check it out with Kelly last Mon.

We ordered 2 set meals to be shared.

The 2 piece chicken meal came with coleslaw, mashed potato, drink and biscuit. Though they call it biscuit, but it tasted a little like hard muffin. I liked the coleslaw, and the mashed potato. Their mashed potato comes with minced chicken gravy. The chicken tasted good as well - at least its not oily.

2pc Chicken Meal.Price-RM9.90
Coleslaw and Mashed Potato-came with the 2 sets

The other set we ordered was the Fish & Shrimp set. Its 1 piece of fish, and 5 pcs of shrimps. It tasted good as well, but a little salty.

Fish & Shrimp Set. Price-RM14.95

Though I do prefer Popeyes to KFC's chicken, but I am really not a fan of fast food. By the end of the meal, I really feel a little 'overwhelmed' by this 2 fried set meals, and I don't think Popeyes will get repeat sales from me anytime soon.

Popeyes is located at Taman Tun, the corner lot which replaced Shakeys, just opposite KFC, and is on the same row as Secret Recipe.

Extra Super Tanker @ Damansara Kim

Heard about Super Tanker quite a lot in the past - and not knowing where to head to for dinner last 2 Fridays, EL suggested to try it. He also heard a lot about this restaurant. Word-of-mouth works.

We started our dinner by sharing a bowl of this old cucumber soap. The soup tasted really sweet, just like soup boiled from home.

Old cucumber soup.Price-RM5

The picture of this beancurd attracted my eyes when I went through the menu. Unlike the ordinary fried beancurd, topped with fried shallot, soya sauce, oil and oyster sauce, this has a filling. This has minced meat, filled in between the beancurd. We really liked this. The beancurd is really soft, while the outer layer of the beancurd is crispy enough. Not sure if they steam the beancurd with the filling, and then deep fried it?

Beancurd. Price-RM22

Beancurd.Really yummy

The salted yolk since few years back has gained popularity, as many dishes are cooked using it. This bittergourd fried with salted yolk is really 1 of the best I ever tried. Each slice of the bittergourd seems to be coated 'quite' evenly with the salted yolk, and this dish is really aromatic
.

Salted yolk bittergourd. Price-RM15

This is the dish recommended by the captain. This is called 'soft bone pork'. It is being slow-cooked for 8 hours, and isn't always available, thus decided to give it a try. Pork really isn't my favourite meat, thus I find this ok only. And yes, the meat is really tender (after the long slow-cook, it has to be....)

Soft bone pork.Price-RM20

This dinner is overall satisfactory (Thanks EL for dinner). This restaurant is really popular, and I see that the patrons are coming in non-stop, and most of them have made reservation. Thus reservation is recommended.

Hokkien Mee @ Petaling Street

Its been long since I last had supper, but since the dinner I had was around 5pm+, went for dinner at Petaling Street, 2 Saturday ago. This place looks really old, and have possibly opened before I was born.

The famous Petaling Street hokkien mee

The hokkien mee is fried using fire on charcoal, but somehow, I don't really find this good. Maybe its because I've tasted one that is much better, operating from behind Tawakal (read my earliest post). This hokkien mee is a little hard, and not really aromatic.

Big plate of hokkien mee

This steamed squid is prepared just like some vegetable, where they just use garlic oil and soya sauce. I quite like this dish, something different.
Steamed squid

This soup is also nice - pork with cabbage. Sweet.

Pork & Vege Soup

This stall/shop is just opposite the famous longan drink stall at Petaling Street. It is rather pricey, as for such simple 3 dish, the total bill came up to RM50.
(I would think noodle and squid should cost lesser).

Shanghai 10 Grand @ Avenue K

This must have been my 5th visit to Shanghai 10 at Avenue K. Though there are many choices of food at KLCC, but I feel the walk over to Avenue K is all worth it. Had brunch here 2 Sundays ago with Sharon & EL.

Inside Shanghai 10

I just love their La Mien. The soupy and the sweet & sour. There's quite a fair bit to finish 1 bowl on my own, thus, I usually order dim sum, and bowl/s of La Mien for sharing. And for such big bowl of tasty noodle, I feel the price is really worth it.
Shrimp dumpling noodle. Price-RM9.80

The sweet & sour gravy opens up your appetite, and makes you want to have more.

Sweet & sour noodle. Price-RM9.80

Overall, their dim sum is really good, especially the fried stuff (which I did not ordered on this particular visit). There is a fried shrimp ball that is a must try if anyone ever visit Shanghai 10.

Delicious @ Bangsar Village 2

Have dinner with my 'ai ya-bro', Remus quite often. Since we wanted to 'celebrate' that particular Wednesday, for no apparent reason, we decided to go Delicious. He was craving for his ever favourite, Carbonara Spaghetti with bacon, and so, I decided to have the same thing, but with chicken.

He aint' posing for me. Hehe. Taken with his favourite-Spaghetti Carbonara.

The carbonara is in fact very good, rich and creamy enough, yet maintaining the right thickness of the sauce.

Carbonara Spaghetti with Chicken. Price-RM20.90 (can't really remember)

Ended the dinner by sharing a dessert together. The fact that this dinner was taken 10 days ago, and I did not keep the receipt, I can't actually remember what this dessert is called, but one thing is for sure, Delicious's dessert is one of the best around town.

Me & Remus. He look a bit tensed, maybe worry if I will post it in my blog. Hehe.Kidding bro

Super Crab Aroma Seafood @ Taman Bukit Mayang Emas

Kelly & I drove all the way from Damansara Heights to Taman Bukit Mayang for lunch last week. This restaurant is just next to the ever popular, Wong Poh, famous for its claypot butter crab. All this while, I did not notice this restaurant, as it is being 'overshadowed'.

Was informed by the boss that the crowd to this restaurants are usually their regulars, and on that particular day, only 2 tables were occupied.

Its popular dish ought to be the Super Crab porridge as it is being printed on their name card. We have however ordered the fish slice and frog porridge. This porridge taste really good - both the fish slice and frog meat was really fresh. The porridge is so watery, and you don't feel like you have had a few bowls.

Frog and fish slice porridge. Price-RM26

I really enjoyed the fried mee-hoon. Very fragrant, and its not too dry.

Fried Meehoon. Price-RM6

While eating half way, decided to top up our order with the Superior Beancurd. They use Japanese beancurd, which is being sliced open and filled with crab meat, mushroom and minced pork. The gravy is nice too, and should go very well with rice.
