Restoran Spring Golden @ Kota Kemuning

A wet Sunday... what a lovely weather to sleep-in...
Has been a while since I heard from my brother on how much he enjoyed the char siu he had at Shah Alam, thus on this lovely Sunday, we and Sam, headed to Spring Golden.

About 10 mins drive from Klang, we reached this part of Shah Alam (which I've never explored previously), and glad to see that there are still char siu for sale.. ^^

A ordinary looking shop, serving not so ordinary char siu..

We have the option to order either wan tan mee or rice, to go with our order, of char siu, roast pork and duck (they sell chicken too)...

I love just by the look of the wan tan mee when I was served... This springy and fine looking wan tan mee lived up 100% of how it looked, as I took each bite. Simply tossed with soya sauce and black sauce, this is good to eat just on its own.

My yummy-licious looking plate of wan tan mee

Oh-My-Goodness were the 3 words I uttered when I saw this plate of char siu. The caramelized taste, with slight crispy texture on some edges of these combination of fat and lean meat, were just perfect !
Indeed when I chewed this piece of meat, it has that 'melting' effect in my mouth, and the entire chunk of meat felt so soft..

Plate of irresistible char siu

The roast pork had very crispy skin, and the duck tasted good as well. Since there is a 'star-product', I suppose my taste bud were 'all-over' the char siu..

Roast Pork and Roast Duck

With a bowl of 4 pcs dumpling, the total bill came up to RM40.80 (including 2 barley drink). Considering the price of meat that isn't anywhere near cheap, I felt that this price was quite a fair one to pay.

The boss was ex-extremely friendly... we somehow were very impressed by how well articulate he is. On normal days, they are close during the evening, except for pick-up order, and for CNY, they are taking order as well (they are only close on 1st day of CNY... looks like we can even add his char siu for our reunion dinner). Their char siu is selling at RM9.50 per 100gm, and he took the time to explain to us how customers will pay differing prices each time, due to variance in char siu grammage.

Marufuku @ Jaya One, PJ

Met with Carol, my ex-college mate, for lunch last week. Since her office is near to Jaya One, we headed there. I heard about this sister outlet of Sanuki Udon (much has been read/written on how good looking the Japanese owner is ^^) being at Jaya One, thus wanted to give it a try. I can't remember the name at first, but it wasn't difficult, as once we reached here, we saw a few Marufuku's bunting stand.

Having reached here slightly before 12.30noon, we saw queue of people, waiting for their turn to order food. Being a self-service restaurant, we will have to key in our order (of main meal), into the machine near the entrance. After which, take the slip, and you may order the side order (which has been prepared prior), and then order your drink at the cashier.

Space comfortable enough, to fit, quite a number of staffs

The side dishes

I didn't really liked the onion and vege tempura, as it was cold, and pretty oily.

Onion and vege tempura. Price-RM2

Both of us ordered the Nabeyaki Udon, simply because it has the most ingredients.. hehe.. This bowl of udon was served hot in claypot topped with tempura ebi, fried tofu, shiitake mushroom, dumpling, egg and chopped spring onion.. As much as I enjoyed the piping hot broth, I find it a little salty to my tastebud, and Carol commented of the same, after our lunch. However, I still very much like the udon noodle which was springy...

Nabeyaki Udon. Price-RM10

Hmm.. the guys which were seated 2 tables from us, paid us a little attention, as they seem to look amused when we asked the staff from Marufuku to snap a picture of us. "Why, man? ^^"

Carol and I... I have always thought that Carol has this 'Japanese' look...

Xin Chun Steamboat @ Kota Damansara

Being early to Xin Chun steamboat on 30 Dec 2010 (the official last working day for most people), I witnessed how fast the place was filled up with customers. To the end, some customers had to wait for table. Despite so many steamboat restaurants around this area, this is truly a good sign of one that is doing extremely well.

Known for its Pulau Ketam steamboat, Xin Chun offers the 'Pulau Ketam' set at RM13.50 per pax, whilst 'Executive' set is at RM26.50 per pax.

We went for the 2 pax order, for the 3 of us... plus more vege particularly for the health conscious one. I like how much my 2 friends are fairly health conscious, with 1 particularly, is sticking to her non-carbo diet. Salute la... and perhaps, this is something I should pick up, bit by bit, this year? Hmmm...

Janis, the 귀여워 Gwi-Yeo-Weo (cute) girl (she is so crazy over K-Pop ^^), holding the menu board for picture.. Hehe..

It was certainly big portion of ingredients for 2 pax order, and being a fishball lover, I had to wait patiently for the pot of stock to simmer... This 'yummylicious' plate of goodies includes fresh looking fishballs (various types), fish noodle, 'sui gow', taufoo, taufoo pok, beancurd skin, vege, fish meat and prawn.

Huge plate of 'good stuff' for the 3 of us...

A picture as memory before we start our 'work' to put in the ingredients into the hot pot.

Janis, Chloe and I... Decided to put the 'NG' shot of Janis and I, where her big eyes were closed... So cute..

While waiting for the ingredients to cook, our lala, steamed with chinese wine was served. The lala served was the big and heavy shell type, nevertheless, they tasted good. I liked the strong chinese wine taste...

Steamed lala

We went for the mix pot, combining the clear soup, and tom yam soup. Both tasted ordinary, but good enough to go with the loads of ingredients.

Bubba Gump @ The Curve

Where else to go when you feel like being overloaded with prawns? I just had craving for Bubba Gump's prawns, and few days later, Jo suggested to meet up here. Just in time!

She bought this hot deal from mydeal.com.my. How cool is that, where mydeal will have new hot deal with different merchants, offering discount between 50%-90%. Once the minimum number of buyers for certain deal is reached, the deal is "on"... Do visit the site to check out the fantastic deals.
This deal that Jo got was the Shrimp Feast @ 50% off. With the price of RM43.35 nett (instead of RM86.70), we get a drink, big portion of shrimp, and a chocolate chip sundae cookies as dessert.

So we were served the 1 pound 'Shrimper Catch-3', with the option of cajun spice and garlic. Of the 2, I prefer the garlic option, as I liked the slight saltiness that came with this. We were peeling lots of prawns the other night.

'Shrimper-Catch 3'. Yumms.

For dessert, we had chocolate chip sundae cookie which was really huge, at least for the 2 of us. It had scoops of vanilla ice-cream, cream, topped with loads of crunchy peanuts, and the chocolate chip cookie as the base (needless to say, it is of the same size of the pan). Quite a refreshing way to have chocolate chip cookies. Overall, I liked this dessert..

Jo & I usually hang out with the company of the rest of the gang. So it was quite a nice change, for a 1 to 1 dinner session.

Nandos @ Mid Valley

I have never tried Nando's, until around 5 months ago, where Fei suggested for us to have our late lunch here. I never knew it tasted so good, and I ought to say, its far ahead of K.R. I felt not worth it to have paid that much for a meal at K.R. but for taste of chicken at Nando's, yes!

So, I was craving for Nando's chicken while I was at Mid Valley 2 weeks ago. I didn't realize they have such a huge space inside, and it was really crowded.

One thing that they are ahead than the rest, they have their very own produced sauces. Can't wait to dip my chicken in these 'appetizing' chilli sauce. I love the Garlic Peri-Peri sauce, as its at the right spiciness.

The variety of chilli sauce

We both took the mild Peri-Peri chicken with 2 sidelines (from their list of 10 options, which includes different types of salad, chips and corn).

1/2 Chicken with 2 sides : Peri Potato Salad and Peri 3 Bean Salad. Price-RM14.95

The grilled chicken was crispy on most sides and the chicken meat was marinated so well that almost all part of the chicken was tasty. Its such a nice blend of taste, eaten together with the mild peri-peri sauce (yes, I did dipped a lot of the Garlic Peri-Peri sauce). Also, I love the thick fries... Only the corn was so-so.

1/2 Chicken with 2 sides : Corn and Old Style Chips. Price-RM14.95

I can skip the address etc, as I suppose Nando's need no introduction to most...

Till my next craving.... ^^

Da Tuan Yuan @ Bandar Baru Klang

For a change, the birthday celebration of the gang took place in Klang... This is in celebration to the early year baby, Sally...

We had our lunch at Da Tuan Yuan... All the food that we ordered tasted aweeee-some...

The assam fish head, was so absolutely tasty.. yumm.. yumm.. the slight sourish and spiciness of the tom yam, makes you wanting for more... The flesh of the fish was so fresh, and had texture that was just so firm. Absolute must order dish!

Assam fish head

The lady boss recommended the marmite octopus.. This is a snack dish, where the octopus was fried till real crunchy, and then, fried together with marmite.. Nice...

Marmite fried octopus

Gosh, suddenly I forgot what this vege is called, after eating for soo many times...'Guai Dau Miu'.??
Just stir fried is good enough to bring out the natural taste of the vege.... Crunchy too..

The salted egg mantis shrimp definitely makes you wanting for more.. The salted egg can be tasted throughout every bite, and it was so crunchy as well....

Mantis Shrimp with salted egg

The total bill came up to around RM87, not too bad for it is inclusive for the big fish head we had.. Hehe.
