Was at dinner last night with some ex and current colleagues. After the dinner, had some cupcakes in celebration to mine (actual date : 30 Aug) and Clarice's birthday (actual date : 31 Aug).
This cupcakes were from Cupcake Chic from Pavillion. No matter how it taste, once I look at the beautiful combination of colors, I already went 'oooohhhhhh........'. Frankly I just love anything full of colors *<>*... Just like the sight of this colorful cupcakes, and also the colorful candles.
There are combination of various flavors - chocolate chips, cookies & cream, peacan, carrot walnut, etc. A little sweet, but love them.
As much as I enjoy eating around, 1 of my many wishes this year is to not gain weight. Hehe..
Separately, I do look forward to learnings that life offer. Cheers to life, and another year of birth day.

Restoran Lou Wong @ Jalan Yau Tet Sin, Ipoh
Were at Ipoh with Shereen and Aloysius last 2 Saturdays.
By the time we got to this chicken rice shop, we were close to starving. Everything will taste good anyway, but but... was told by the local that this is the best chicken rice shop. Can't wait to try.
While anxiously waiting for our food to be served, can't help to notice the quite good/cool looking guy, that chops the chicken. Time for us girls to cuci-mata.
Beansprout in Ipoh is well known, for it is slighty "fatter" and cleaner. Each bite was crunchy.
The plate of chicken - though looked really greasy, it doesn't felt so. Can feel the tenderness of the chicken, and somehow, the skin did not taste 'geli'. Was really good. This shop sells only steamed fresh, and not roasted chicken - therefore all chicken has to be really fresh.
Shereen always love dried noodle, whilst the rest of us went for the kuey teow soup. My god. The kuey teow was just so fine and smooth.
Will definitely come back here again to eat, the next time I'm in Ipoh.

Tomoe Japanese Restaurant @ Subang Jaya
Last minute decided to have dinner with Remus. Initial plan was to have Rakuzen, opposite Sime Darby Medical at Subang. However, it was quite a long wait, even on a Tuesday night. This area is getting popular with the Japanese restaurant owners, thus, many other options for us to consider. Decided on Tomoe. The restaurant is considered huge, as it took up 2 floors (with lift facilities as well).

Inside of restaurant. Quiet on the ground floor. Saw quite number of patrons which opted to be seated upstairs
Look through the menu. The food here is slightly more expensive, as compared to Rakuzen. Finally decided on their set dinner, which was priced at RM40 each.
We ordered the same set, with the difference of yakizakana set for me, whilst Remus took the one with salmon.

Salmon and sushi set. Price-RM40
The fish that came with the set was really big - bigger than the usual portion that comes with set. Overall, we were really happy with our meals, as it tasted authentic, and fresh. To the end, can't even finish the all the sushis. Therefore, absolute value for money.
The dinner set also came with simple salad and chawan mushi. Love the chawan mushi which comes with mushroom, gingko, and chicken meat.

Peng Heong Hakka Paikut Restaurant @ Klang
Peng Heong's spare rib used to be one of my favourite during school days. At that time, it was just operating as a stall, outside Seri Intan cinema. It has now progress to operate from a shop lot, with many more food offering.
Thie piece of spare ribs was indeed tender, non sticky and easy to chew. Marinated well with the right ingredient, the taste was just nice - slightly towards to the sweet side, and the part where its over-fried (turned black as its slightly burnt) was even nicer. Crispy and real aromatic. The only part missing was I wish it was hot when served.
Famous "Paikut" Spare Ribs King. Price-RM6 (also available in RM8, RM10, RM20)
We like it when we can order smaller portion of vege. Simple enough, just boiled, and added with soya sauce and fried shallots.Vegetable. RM2 per small plate
We also ordered meat ball as side dish. Its minced meat, marinated and fried. Tasted so-so..
Peng Heong Hakka Meatball. RM1 eachFor the price we paid, not too bad. Quite worth it. However, to be absolute frank, my mom has cooked similar version of spare ribs, and I like that better. *<>*

Cendol Klang @ Klang
A piece of 'sengkuang' and a bowl of cendol used to be what I have, every afternoon, perhaps when I was around Standard 3. I just couldn't give this a pass, while hanging out at my dad's medical hall.
This cendol owner whom used to sell just from his motorcycle has years ago upgraded himself to a shop.
Brought Shereen here to try on a bright sunny Saturday afternoon, when she was in Klang.

The Cendol Klang, just next to Hai O
Maybe its all in the mind, but some what the bowl of cendol I tried when the 'Ah Neh' sold to us direct from his motorcycle seem to taste better. I like chunks and chunks of melting ice in the bowl of cendol, and the thickness of the coconut milk. I felt that this bowl of cendol was a little too sweet.
After dentist appointment, don't need to worry about having the bowl of sweet cendol
The cendol was real smooth, and the big red bean used was really soft. This bowl of cendol tasted good, though a little on the sweet side, as it comes with quite generous scoops of 'gula melaka'. While paying, there are some customers that were ordering cendol kurang manis... I thought this applies only to the drinks at mamak.. hehe..

Popiah at Shereen's home
A group of friends were invited to Shereen's new home sweet home 2 weeks ago. Her mom bought some popiah skin and served us with lotsa & lotsa ingredients - dried beancurd, beansprout, long bean, cucumber, carrot, sweet turnip, vege, seaweed, black mushroom, fried egg, peanuts... some of these are being fried, boiled, or cooked. The spread of food on the table got us really excited, to 'create' our own popiah.
In addition to these, we also have the vegetarian chicken drumstick, served with mayonnaise.
Such serving of food is a good idea when come to serving friends or family, as you won't need to worry about it getting cold. *<>* Good idea when I next have gathering at my house.
We paused a little before we began taking the ingredients, that's because way too many choices. Each of us took a little of each ingredient, and though we thought it was JUST a 'little', we did had a little difficulty as well in wrapping the popiah. Some of us wrapped as though it was roti canai.

Took a bite before snapping a picture of my creation. The popiah skin was just sooo 'thin' and 'soft'
We had a really simple, yet satisfying dinner. A big thanks to Shereen and her mom whom has feeded us well that night.

Ah Lye Curry Fish Head @ Subang
A friend brought me to try out the famous Ah Lye curry fish head last week, which is a branch out from their Taiping branch. I don't really fancy curry fish heads, but am very curious to try out whenever someone claimed a dish that is really good.
It was indeed a fish head worth trying. In fact, can't wait to return again to have the same dish. The thickness of the coconut milk used in the fish head was instantly felt when I took a sip of the curry. The curry was absolute aromatic, and the slight lime taste, made this even more appetizing. Went really well with rice.
This prawn dish was cooked with asam, and not sure if the sauce combined marmite, but the overall taste of this really raised my eyebrow and ears. *<>* Absolute love this, the prawn was really fresh, and the sauce scored 100%. I remembered we once had a king prawn that cost us RM30+ each at Hakka Restaurant, which the bill really shocked us when we saw it. Comparatively, what we had in Hakka was a far cry from this, in terms of taste, and of course, this was so much worth it in terms of price.
This sambal prawn cooked with petai and onion was also really good. Not too spicy in taste, this fits my tastebud perfectly. The petai was really crunchy too.

Fong Lye @ Desa Sri Hartamas
Went to Fong Lye at Desa Sri Hartamas 2 Fridays ago. Its branch at Mid Valley has been real popular judging by the long queue each time I pass by. Its when I see all this fully packed restaurant, despite it not being cheap make me question 'what bad economy that people are talking about?'
Eric and I felt like something soupy the other night, and thus decided to just order its seafood claypot soup. This claypot was a real big order, and its portion is in fact a little big for 2 pax.
With its combination of many ingredients, it made the broth even sweeter. This claypot included fried egg wrapped in minced pork, fish ball, squid, crab stick, lala, prawn, meatball, crab, pork, golden mushroom, taufoo and cabbage.
We were recommended side order of meehoon to go with the soup. We went for it, however, wish we had not, cos we were really stuffed by the time the meehoon was served. In addition, it costed us RM6 for the rather small plate.
A little cup of juice (think its made of lime and honey, perhaps) was served towards end of the dinner.

Kuey teow soup @ Petaling Street
Went to Petaling Street with Shereen last Tue, thinking to have claypot chicken rice. Since it wasn't open, we had the kuey teow noodle soup, in front of KK mart.
This stall has been here for as long as I remember.
The noodle soup and prawn dumpling was good, tasty, however, find it a little salty.

Restoran Kong Sai @ Paramount, PJ
Was just driving around at Paramount last 2 Mondays, and saw that Restoran Kong Sai has quite a good crowd, thus, we decided to give it a try. As we were there around 9pm+, most of their 'sellable' items were sold out, and these were our choices for the night.
The chicken was really smooth, and fresh. Guess they must be famed for its chicken, otherwise, they wouldn't have 'chicken' on their logo. *<>* Just based on tastiness of the chicken, it would be sufficient for them to open a stand alone chicken rice shop.
I have always like the pig stomach pepper soup. This tasted just nice.

Pasta Zanmai @ Plaza Damas
BG, Suan and I were at Plaza Damas for lunch 2 Fridays ago. First went in to Sao Nam thinking to try out their set lunches. However, upon seated, doesn't find their set lunches appealing, and in addition to the fact that its rather expensive, we decided to change to Pasta Zanmai instead. It was indeed a good move.
From its specials for July (available fr 16-31 July), ordered the Seafood Okonomiyaki Pizza that comes with lotsa seafood, mayonnaise, torikatsu sauce and lots of bonito flakes. There was seafood - prawns and squid in almost every bite, and topped up by the fact that the crust was real crispy, we just loved this.
We ordered this set that was real value for money -the mini fried prawn spaghetti that comes with the sesame sauce, mini roasted eel rice and a miso soup. Every bite from this set tasted really good. The texture of the spaghetti was just right and just love the sesame sauce. And of course the eel was roasted perfectly, and we just felt that the partially cooked egg was a little raw. Eaten together with the rice, it isn't too bad le.
Contemplating among us on what to choose for dessert, we ended with the Goma Pudding. The texture of this was really soft, and it goes really well with the black sesame.
