As a Klangnite myself, I was happy at time we saw renovation taking place by Angcle Peoh, during end Mar 2014. First thing mainly because we don't really have many choices when comes to meeting our craving for Asam Laksa, and especially in air conditioned environment. Second, its because the origin of this shop is from the ever famous Asam Laksa in Ayer Itam, Penang.
Almost entering one year of business, I have frequented many times to Angcle Peoh, and I see the business has been consistently good.
Its like a little tongue twisting test put to us when wanting to pronounce 'Angcle', which pronounced as 'Uncle'. 'Ang' is the surname of the owner, and 'Cle' is a short form to Uncle, thus the combination.
Angcle Peoh has sufficient varieties offered, if you decide to not have their famous Asam Laksa.
As a starter, their rojak is a must order, mainly due to its yummy rojak sauce with just the right thickness, and generous amount of peanut.

My kawan was really hungry, and decided to opt for extra noodle for the Asam Laksa. We thought it was really worth it, as by paying RM8.90, we have this yummylicious bowl of Asam Laksa.

Asam Laksa. Normal Price-RM6.90 (we added noodle, for an extra RM2) |
We had to be very careful when mixing the bowl of Asam Laksa, so that it doesn't spill out. It has generous amount of vege, cucumber, onion, prawn paste. The broth of this Asam Laksa was just nice, with the right amount of sourness to raise our appetite. Not sure why, but Asam Laksa has never failed to make me salivate. However, I wish there were more amount of fish included in our bowl of Asam Laksa.

The fried kuey teow tasted really yummy. Enough 'wok hei', used to describe Chinese style of cooking that uses high flame over a seasoned wok, while the food is being stirred and tossed.. This plate of fried kuey teow consist of cockles, bean sprouts, prawns, which unfortunately, during this visit, was a tad soft, which doesn't taste quite fresh. However, it isn't too bad.
The duck egg, which is available at RM2 extra from the normal chicken egg, and the pork lard used, does add more fragrant to the overall taste of the noodle.

The slight disappointment to our lunch was the order of Prawn Mee. Not sure if their version is meant to be this oily, but the over excessive oil that was visible on top of this bowl of Prawn Mee does turned me off a little. The soup broth was too salty, and doesn't have much taste and smell of prawn that is expected of a bowl of Prawn Mee.

On the wall, is the history of how Angcle Peoh business origins. It started by Uncle Peoh's mother way back in 1953. Interesting.
