Kafe Indulge @ Off Jalan Kuchai Lama

Went CNY visiting at Alicia & Jesmond's home sweet home yesterday, and as it was near dinner time, Alicia suggested that we have dinner nearby at this cosy little cafe, that serves good mille crepe. I was instantly 'attracted' to the idea, and can't wait to head on there.

Kafe Indulge's very simple set up

Kafe Indulge in fact carries a very simple set up, with very light deco, and simple tables and chairs.

Recommended the Lime and Mint bliss by Jesmond, and just love the refreshing taste of lime 'meets' mint.

Lime and Mint Bliss. Price-RM3.90

Was told that it was just recently that Kafe Indulge also offer local dishes in their menu.

Jesmond had the very healthy aglio olio pasta.

Shereen and I shared the mee mamak. The yellow noodle wasn't too spicy, just right, fried together with prawn and chicken. Overall, taste good, but somehow lacks the 'wok hei'.

Mee Mamak. Price-RM9.80

The other dish we had that had us very satisfied was the Chicken Piccatta. Tender chicken that was juicy inside, with slight crisp, from the flour dough used to fried the chicken. Yummy!! And the mushroom sauce has just the right creaminess.

Chicken Piccatta. Price-RM16.90

After sipping just one spoon of the soup, we were all caught with delight as to how delicious the Nyonya Laksa tasted. The richness of the coconut broth laksa and the thickness of the soup made this a winner dish. It also came with ingredients such as prawns, cockles, fish cake and chicken. Yumms! Can't wait to come back to have this 1 bowl on my own.

Nyonya Laksa. Price-RM11.90

While having our dinner, saw many fresh Mielle Crepes was brought out from the crepes making room. And looking at the amount of these Mille Crepes arranged in the big fridge, it goes to show that Kafe Indulge does sell lots of them. Thus, can't wait to indulge them ourselves.

Alicia told her the Rum & Raisin flavor is 1 of her favorite, however, it wasn't available on that day, so we went for the Original flavor, and the Black Forest flavor.

These Mielle Crepes looked simply irresistible

Love the Original flavor Mille Crepe - not too sweet, and can taste the lightness of the cream used filled in between the thin fine layers of crepes.

Mille Crepe - Original Flavor. Price-RM7.90

The Black Forest Mille Crepe also tasted good, carrying the same texture, with layers of chocolate, and also black cherry filled in parts of the layers.

Black Forest Mille Crepe. Price-RM8.50

We had some interesting topics that night, on discovery of teachings, and general sharing on life. Should have these sessions more often.. :)

Wonderful session between me, Shereen, Jesmond and Alicia.

Can't wait to be back here to try its other offerings.

Allegro Cafe @ SS15, Subang Jaya

This is a much overdue post, a dinner meal I had before Christmas.

Spotted this interesting almost hidden spot cafe, on the upper floor, as I finished drink 1 night at Wing's Cafe..
Thus, arranged to have dinner there the following week.

As I stepped in, immediately fell in love with the ambiance. Nice, cosy, well decorated, and exudes a much romantic feeling, with much use of yellow lights all around, and most of all, the lighted Christmas tree.

Cosy ambiance, and lots of use of yellow lights

Romantic setting

I had the Spaghetti Carbonara. It was a tasty carbonara dish, but always face the problem of too rich of the creamy sauce for one to finish it all.

Spaghetti Carbonara. Price-RM24

X1 had the Chicken Paparazzi... Good choice of dish, and the pan fried chicken breast was so flavorful (well fried that it has a thin crisp layer on top and edges of the chicken), and topped with lots of wild mushroom and cream sauce. I will surely order this, to have on my own, during my next visit. :)

Hokkaido Ramen-SANTOUKA @ Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL

Heard so much about Tokyo Street at Pavilion, that I just have to take a few hours off to head down to KL for lunch.

Before stepping in to Tokyo Street, not too bad an idea to pose with the macho Ultraman.

A pix with 'Ultraman'

SANTOUKA was the main reason I made this visit, as I've heard so much about the authenticity of taste of this ramen store.

Check out the display of what's await here

As we wanted to save our stomach for the other food outside, Shereen & I just took a set to share. Had the 'Small Ramen & Char Siu Rice Bowl Set' and took the 'Shio'/Salt soup base as were told this is the original soup base. The set too came with a cup of chawanmushi, pickle, salad and a cup of green tea.

Known for serving soup at the perfect temperature as the soup is not meant to be boiled, I do like the soup base that carries the pork bone taste. The elasticity of the ramen does spells freshness too.

The Char Siu served on top of the rice, tasted excellent. Love the aromatic taste, and tenderness of the char siu. NICE!!

The cup of green tea was also worth mentioning, as it has a fresh tea aroma. Liked this..

Inside SANTOUKA

Love the very Japanese feel outside SANTOUKA

Its been so long since I last been to Pavilion, and its definitely a wonderful feeling to have seen how much it has improved, especially with creation of Tokyo Street, a place that combines everything Japanese.. Good 'FEEL'..

32F @ First Subang Mall, SS15

I have been a real slack in updating my blog, and I can't wait to get back to it.. My time has been totally occupied since the last 2 months, as I started 'working' at 32F, a kiosk, selling shaved ice at First Subang Mall. Within the kiosk, I'm also selling my baked goods, under a co-branding, called 'Sherlyns Little Dream'.

For those who have not been to First Subang Mall, it's located at SS15, Subang Jaya, which is in between SS15's Shell/McD/Mosque, and Hong Leong/BP Healthcare. Some tenants within this mall are Overtime, Library, Coffee Chemistry Signature, Loudspeaker karaoke, Edo Ichi, I Love Yoo, Chatime...

32F stands for 32 Degrees Fahrenheit, which means 0 Celcius ie. freezing point of water. As the business is all about shaved ice, thus the licensor has chosed this name to reflect what the business is all about, ie. at point of ice formation.

Story on the wall, about 32 Degrees Fahrenheit

Here's story on how this kiosk is created

I love 32F shaved ice as it has a really soft, smooth, melts in mouth texture. And what's more, its made from freshest and natural ingredients, and love the taste, that is not as sweet as some of the dessert offering out there.

There are 4 steps to ordering :
1 - dine-in / take-away
2 - choose shaved ice flavor (for shaved ice, option of basic and premium flavors available) and its size
3 - choose 1 free basic topping (for toppings, option of basic and premium toppings available)
4 - sweetness level (level of milk to be added to shaved ice)

32F's shaved ice menu

Some of the shaved ice flavors matched with toppings, offered as Combo

From all the shaved ice flavors I've tried, Mango and Green Tea are my top favorite. This 2 flavors are from the Premium flavors, which cost RM5.90 for a mini, and RM6.90 for maxi, which comes with 1 free basic topping.

Currently, there are 7 basic flavors and 5 premium flavors offered at 32F. There are more flavors that will be introduced from time to time.

Apart from the product, here's sharing some shots around the kiosk.

Preparation in progress, for opening day

This is a shot of how the kiosk looks like, currently.

It was surely nerve wrecking during my 1st few shaving experience.

To-date, have received very positive feedback from customers that tried 32F's shaved ice. Come try it for yourself.

We are currently giving out our loyalty card without expiry date, whereby with purchase of 10 shaved ice, 1 shaved ice worth RM4.90 will be given free.

Antipodean @ Telawi, Bangsar

My dear friend, Janis, has been expressing how much she loved Flat White from Antipodean, and so, when she brought another mutual friend, Chloe, to try this out, I collectively received good feedback from these 2 coffee connoisseur.

Did some search online on blogs for this place, and somehow, the food and place looked really enticing. My chi-muis agreed to meet up here, and so we had our dinner together.

I liked the setting of Atmosphere, with cool use of black and red. And it was surely apparent, that they are serious about coffee. Info I gathered from KLue is that they uses quality coffee beans roasted by Indonesia's top specialty roaster, Merdeka Coffee, which is a boutique coffee company dedicated to sourcing, selecting and roasting the best Indonesian coffee. With its fair-trade policy, they only purchase their coffee from small Indonesian growers

Inside Antipodean

1st thing to order - Flat White.. Finally get to taste! Me too really liked this, like the 'kau'-ness (thickness) in the coffee (as some flat white I tried elsewhere, are usually rather bland), and just the right after-taste feeling, of the coffee lingering within.

Flat White. Price-RM8

Order are to be made from the big size menu ie. as written on the 'blackboard' wall. Just thought that they should also have hand-out menu, for easy reference.

Antipodean's menu

They have decent amount of selections, but confined to limited choices within a selection. Eg, they sell pasta, but there isn't many types of pasta dishes to choose from. Well, suppose this is acceptable, as long as what's offered is good.

Breakfast is served throughout the day, and thus we ordered the Big Breakfast.
Came with toast, choice of bacon, chicken, beef or pork sausage, mushroom, scrambled egg, and hash brown. We took the pork sausage, which was tasty, and I super loved the saute-mushroom, which was saute to perfection, and just liked chewing and feeling the texture of the mushroom. :)

Big Breakfast. Price-RM18

This has to be my No 1 favorite Asian salad. The sauce that came with this plate of salad was really yummy.. It has the right balance of sourish taste, which made everything that went along with it, tasted so good, even the fried onion was good... It has quite a fair bit of shredded chicken too.

Burmese shredded chicken salad. Price-RM15

We placed the rest of the orders, after Jane arrived, the 'very-soon' mummy-to-be.

The pasta (conchiglie) has this chewiness, that somehow went pretty well with the feta cheese. The pumpkin, too, fills in as the right combination with this pasta dish, and it was sweet.. Nice! Gives a feeling of 'healthy' despite having feta cheese in this dish.

Pumpkin, sage and feta cheese pasta. Price-RM17

I took a bite of this croissant, scramble egg with bacon. I liked the open sandwich style, as it gives us the impression, wow, there's so much to eat.. In fact, nothing will not taste good taken with bacon, as bacon has the natural aroma and saltiness that perks up your appetite.

Croissaint, scrambled egg with bacon. Price-RM16

We too had the grilled chicken with tomatoes, green bean, and balsamic vinegar... The chicken was tender, and carried a level of sweetness (think was marinated with honey as well), and topped with the balsamic vinegar, 'perfecto'!.

Grilled chicken with tomatoes, green bean, and balsamic vinegar. Price-RM18

Lots of packed coffee, ready to go

A small area for the kids. Parents will surely appreciate this corner, to keep their children a little busy

We somehow will make 'special' effort to meet, prior to a chi-mui close to giving birth (same case with Rina the other time, but too bad, she could not join us this round). Can't wait to see the little Jane popping out.. must be as good looking as the parents.. :)

Fang Xiang Bah Ku Teh @ Setia Alam, Shah Alam

The 3 of us were seated at Pappa Rich, Setia Alam this morning, when Ryan posted to Cass and I, why don't we bring Cass to eat Bah Ku Teh, since we are so nearby Klang.. After looking at each other for few seconds, we decided, yea, why not... So Ryan politely informed the staff that we are leaving to eat Bah Ku Teh, and he will make it up with future visits to Pappa Rich.. Haha..

Ryan suggested this Bah Ku Teh place at Setia Alam, which I've never heard of. This part of the shoplots (not same area as Pappa Rich/Old Town) is relatively new, with not many shop lots occupied. He recommended this place as she thinks is quite good..

So here we are :

Fang Xiang Bah Ku Teh

We were asked if we want to take this special part of the pork, which we agreed to, when we were told, this part of the meat isn't too fat... Cass & I were presented a bowl each of this special pork, which I later found out its the waist part of the pork (apparently it isn't easy to slice this part of the pork). Just by looking at it, it spells the word 'tender meat' to me.. and true enough, it indeed was, and just loved the whole part of meat, which comes in form of almost neat layers... Most importantly, the fat part was just nice for me
.
The
bah ku teh soup is unlike the usual, as it doesn't has the strong herbal aroma that bah ku teh usually carry, and this, comes in a form, which tasted more like thick gravy from stew pork.

Special Pork. Price-RM12

Mr Ryan, being the gentleman, did the serving..To make him happy, we complied. Haha..

Dai Kuat (big bone) that Ryan had

Fang Xiang combines 'Xiang' which means fragrant, whilst 'Fang' was taken from the lady boss name, which also represents 'Se Fang Fat Tat'.. The lady boss is a pretty young gal, which wanted to be different (she ought to be the 1st lady owner of bah ku teh pottery, and especially since, she is young - only in her mid 20s).

Each pot of bah ku teh is cooked personally by her brother, as it is very important for them to maintain the 'fo hau' (the right heat to cook).

There is also option the more soupy version which comes in claypot, and they will soon introduce more dishes, namely signature prawn, and their homemade taufoo. As it is, they have added dim sum which is also made by themselves, to their list of offerings.

Wa, so much info I digested over brunch today... and the good news is, they will open another outlet at Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2, by mid Oct... I can head there then.
